I would continue tipping like you had been in the past. She changed her cost structure and usually this is transparent to the customers. I would think that the standard tipping etiquette still applies.
My stylist moved from a salon to a "salon suite" type of establishment. Basically, this means that she rents space and the charge for the cut/style/color goes to her rather than sharing it with a salon.
She did tell me that the money goes directly to her and since it's her own business, she pays rent, overhead, product, etc. like in the salon, but it doesn't go to the salon like it used to.
Her charges for the cut/style did not change. So, my question is, in a situation like this, do I still tip her? Do I tip as much as I would have in a suite environment as I did with the salon?

My normal cut..which takes about 20-30 mins max, runs $25 and I always tip at least $5.
Yes I say the tipping etiquette rule still applies. I'd tip just as you use to. If she has an assistant (washes hair, combs out, and applies color sometimes)... I'd say to tip her a dollor or two as well.
As a former hair dresser the tipping stays the same for you; the behind the scenes cost just changed a little for her. Hope this helps.
