What do you need to tip for? You paid for the room by the points or week or whatever....there is no need to tip.
We travel by timeshare almost exclusively and I have never left a tip.
We are staying at my MIL's time-share this week, and my husband asked me what we should tip. The place looked wonderful when we arrived. There were a couple of things not completely stocked (garbage bags) but nothing major. Housekeeping comes by request - no midweek cleanings. We love that, actually, because we both feel it's usually completely unnecessary.
I was thinking of leavig $20. Is that appropriate? I really do appreciate how great this place looked when we arrived!

We don't generally tip when we stay at our timeshare. The exception would be if someone helps us with our luggage, or if the concierge makes reservations for us to do activities, we would tip her. As far as housekeeping goes, we clean up after ourselves all week, and leave everything tidy as per the instructions (beds stripped, linens in the washing machine, etc). I figure our annual maintenance fees (which are exorbitant) more than cover housekeeping costs.
I have never left a tip at our timeshare, nor is there any card or other indication in the apartment that we are 'invited' to leave something. However, I would say you should ask your MIL what they usually do, since she knows the place and its customs. Hope you had a great vacation!
I've never left a tip for something like that. If you choose to just give from your heart, whatever you feel is appropriate.
Ask your MIL what is customary!
We've never tipped either. They pay a pretty penny in annual fees for cleaning/upkeep.
No, you don't tip. Your folks are paying out the wazoo for maintenance, and housekeeping service is part of it.
We didn't leave a tip for the cleaning service of our rental, either. We never saw them as they only come by request or between guests. They left a bag of little things (like an inexpensive sponge and trial sized dish liquid) but nothing fancy. I felt that the owner already paid them for the service, so we didn't.

We never left a tip cause they expect you to clean it and leave the place in tact. Do the dishes, vacuum, sweep the bathroom floor. All they do is come in change the sheets and towels and put the dishes away in the dishwasher.
The maintenence fees cover all the rest. They also charge you if room service comes in to clean. I am always a fanatic about how the place is left. I guess ocd kicks in and I go crazy cleaning. If it's not left in tip top shape they charge you.
i think a $20 tip is lovely. it may not be 'expected' but will be totally appreciated.

An accurate answer depends on where you're staying.
In some locations, tipping is considered offensive. In many locations within the US, tipping is accepted and appreciated, but not mandatory. In places like Mexico, the maintenance/cleaning fee is used cover supplies and uniforms, but the staff may not be paid a wage at all, and they rely entirely on tips for income.
