How Am I Going to Spend the 3 Months???

I just get sick and tired of winter.
Its the lack of light and the cold and the rains.
All that is manageable.

What worries me most is, my son getting sick.
He was sick almost all winter last year.
He is four and a half now.
Last year we were in Scotland and we thought he is getting sick due to the extreme cold there.
So we moved to England ( a bit south) thinking it will help him.

This year, he has started getting these fevers again.
He has complained of sore throat, head ache, speaks nasal, and has a temperature of 103 degrees.
What can I do to build up his immunity?
What can I do to help him get less sick?

With regards,
V.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks Mamas for all your kind words.
Just back from the out of office hours clinic.
The doctor has put him on antibiotics, and has asked us to speak to our GP about the tonsils.
The fever has gone down.
I will be discussing the Tonsils next week.
He eats a lot of choclates and sweets. Think I got to control it considering the effect it has on the system.
He also refuses to eat fruits and vegetables ( we are vegetarians btw), and all he eats is rice and yoghurt, or beans on toasties.
I will get him to eat some fruits and veggies as well.

Does he take vitamins? You might want to put him on vitamins that are guaranteed to make you feel better! Feel free to message me and I'll give you info on what works for us. Good luck!

Make sure he gets fresh air and exercise, even in extreme cold a ten-15 minute play time outside helps kids stay healthy. Kids don't get sick because of the cold temperatures in winter they get sick because they're cooped up inside with other germy kids and no windows open. Wahing hands frequently is the best way to keep healthy. Fresh fruits and vegetables are also harder to find in winter and they help kid's immune systems. I hope you have a better winter!

Get his tonsils checked out. I had pretty much you said till I was 14. That is when I had my tonsils taken out and it's rare that I am sick for longer than a week.

chicken broth, vitamin c, echinaccea, garlic pills, lots of veggies diced finely into his chicken broth, rest, and eliminate almost all sugar because sugar lowers the immune system. That's what WE can do.

Read the scriptures to him. The bible tells us that the word is life. There is so much to be said about speaking life over our bodies, finances, and every area of our life.

I'm with the outside play! Excercise, fresh air, and Vitamins!! Don't overheat your house (that always messes up our sinuses), and wash, wash, wash your hands (and his)! Oh, and I've heard people swear by those Neti pots (I'm going to buy one for my husband for Christmas)--great for keeping the sinuses cleaned out!

I love the winter! Everything except for waking up while it's still dark.
Good luck, hope this winter is better!

Give him a daily probiotic and a children's multivitamin, as well as a Vit C chew and Vit D3 (Vit D helps with the immune system; my daughter takes 2,000 mg/day. If you live in the north in the winter time, your body will be very low on this because you're not out in the sun, which is where you get Vit D naturally.). You can also give him a multiple mushroom supplement (like 10 or 14 mushrooms) that is excellent for the immune system--both my younger daughter and I take this.

It sounds like your little one's body doesn't have enough of the vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and enzymes it needs in order to keep his system healthy and working well (that happens with picky eaters; my daughter was the same way when she was younger, which is why I give her a variety of supplements.)

You can also buy EmergenC (for Vit C) in flavored packets that you put into water. Granted, someone is going to lamblast me for mentioning it, since there is sugar in the mixture, but it is a fairly easy way to get a child to take Vit C (helps with inflammation). There are a variety of flavors to choose from.

The best way, though, is to get him to eat more of a variety of foods. Baring that, supplements is the way to go.

Good luck.

things that have helped us are LOTS of vitamins. Probiotics, vit. C, ecinacea, zinc, lots of NON antibacterial hand washing. Also when you move to a new area and new schools and stuff your body has to get used to the germs there all over again. I think it takes a good year to build up your immune system when you are in a new place/area/school.

Good point made about getting his tonsils checked. If they have become petri dishes of infection and germs, they will just drag him down instead of helping him.

If he has a temp of 103, you need to get him tested for influenza and for strep. He will need antibiotics if he has strep. If he has the flu, they do have an antiviral for it, but you must get him treated quickly in order for it to do any good.

Separate of fevers, keep a cool mist vaporizer in his bedroom, and don't have your heat up too high. That's hard on his sinuses. Make sure he drinks plenty of water too, because the heat is dehydrating. When he is running a fever, dehydration is even worse.

Hope you get some answers from the doc. Good luck!

Does he have allergies? We had grandson's with allergies who got some immunity shot and it really stopped their frequent fevers and illness.
