Try Yelp. It's a great resource for this type of thing =)
I'm going to a concert at the United Center in Chicago next month. Any hotel recommendations? I heard the United Center is not in a good area so we will plan on taking a cab! But being in an area we can safely walk around during the day would be cool!! Thank you in advance!

Anything downtown near the Magnificent Mile should be fine. Lots of places to shop and eat. The Palmer House Hilton is good too. One of my friends gets great deals through Priceline.com. But you'll want to pick four or five star hotels, because sometimes their idea of a four star hotel might be the Comfort Inn ;-) Good luck!
The downtown Westin is great, as is the downtown Sofitel - they are both in very busy parts of downtown and it is typically quite safe to walk around there during the day and in the evening.
There's also a nice Double Tree right off Michigan Ave.
I'm a big fan of the Hyatt Regency.
Super cheap (gotten rooms for $70-$100) to mondo pricey (like thousands)... We've gotten upgrades there now TWICE, just randomly. Once to a "room" that costs more than my car (total sticker price, not monthly payment... I don't even know if they advertise it. Keeee-razy "room". With a board room table that seated 20+ people, a shower bigger than my dining room, our own dedicated concierge, it was absolutely nuts.), once to just a really, really nice suite.
Just checked their site, right now it's 2 nights and the 3rd is free. There are other special offers, as well.

Last place we stayed was the Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers on Water Street. Right on the river, but a few blocks east of Michigan so it was a little quieter. Nice because it's walking distance to Mich Ave stuff, but also to downtown. They also have a nice pool and fitness center and there is no cost to use them.
