Hi Mom,

I recently stopped taking birth control after being on a few different kinds after having my son 4 years ago, after stopping the pill I have had irregular periods (consisting of spotting a lot and a regular period at my normal schedule) I did ask my doctor about the irregularity and he said it was normal after stopping the pill,Its been about 3-4 months since I have taken any form of birth control. my question is how long is "normal" and I think it also has something to do with my hormones, as I am tired, moody ect ect. How can I regulate my hormones naturally with out going back to any form of birth control and start having normal cycles again and feel like "me" again. Has anyone ever had this happen to you?

What can I do next?

It can take up to 2 years for your body to recover after having a baby so don't rush it. It's been years since I used the pill but if I remember correctly you should be back to what is normal for you by the 6 month mark.

Chamomile tea will help to regulate your periods and it also relaxes you. Give it a try.

I once took birth control pills because I was , at age 38, entering early menopause and , it was felt, were I to take them, that I would possibly regulate my cycle and not bleed every....single...day. Taking the pills destroyed my health, it has been almost 20 years, I had a hysterectomy in 1995 and I have toughed it out and gone through menopause and I am ok, however, wish i had never taken the pill, never recovered-sorry-just not a proponent of tampering with nature-just doesn't work out like you want it to.-destroyed my vigor and strength. If you don't want to have another child, get a "tubal ligation" or don't have sex, or take what God/nature is generous enough to give you. All the best! My mom is looking for a doctor that will prescribe hormones for her-she is 80-really? enough! Deal with it now.

Haha...I'm 36 and I actually just went back ON the pill after being off for 3 yrs because my hormones were such a trainwreck!
I feel better ON the pills because I'm regulated. Off of them, I was spotting like a mad woman, bleeding randomly, my moods were all over the place, etc...
And that was being off the pill (*and not pregnant) for 3 years.

Good luck mama. Aging really sucks.
