I am looking at the Honda Odyssey 2012 ex and the 2013 Toyota Sienna LE.
Which is better?? Which has better resale? Better MPG? Anything else I should consider.

What can I do next?

Chrystler Town and Country! Awesome MPG, resale and very functional! I have had mine for a year and I am glad I picked over Honda(my SIL has one).

You need to sit in them yourself to find out which will work for you.

Each has its own "thing"...the Odyssey may have better gas mileage than the Sienna...do a side-by-side comparison. I've done that - that's what helped me make up my mind to buy my Odyssey.

take the Sienna you are considering and park it next to the Odyssey you are considering. figure out which has the features you want and like. ease of moving seats - I believe the Sienna has 2nd row seats that can move back and forth like front seats for more or less leg room - ease of use - doors - auto sliding doors and rear hatch (that was MANDATORY FOR ME).

If you drink soda, coffee, etc. - bring your typical mug, cup, etc with you and put it in the cup holder...does it fit?

which one has the cell phone storage/holder?
which one has the options you are looking for. No one can answer these questions but you. If you can - rent one each for a weekend and live in the car - not just test drive - it might be worth the money, considering you are wanting to shell out $35K .

Go test drive. I drove both when we were looking and the Odyssey had such awful road noise, especially in the 3rd row, that we ruled it out. Good luck!

You can find the answers to some of these questions by looking them up in the Blue Book. Just google Blue Book. Also Consumer Reports may have checked these models out.

Team Odyssey!

I didn't want a minivan. No way, no how. My husband wanted to trade in his car for one, so I went along on the test drives and now I am jealous that he gets to drive our mini each day!

We prefered the options and features of the Honda, but honestly both are really nice vehicles. We did not want televisions in the car, but we did want the "upgrades". This was more feasible with the Honda than with the Toyota. The trunks is slightly narrower in the Toyota as well, which with a double stroller was a concern for us.

Good luck! Test drive them both and see which you like. Other factors are pretty straightforward.

I dont think you can really go wrong with either. Just personal preferences because both are great minivans and there are not huge differences between them. Go to carmax and test drive both of them and see which one feels right. Also the carmax salesperson should be able to give you more specific comparisons as I am sure they get this question daily. I personally have the Sienna and I love love love it. My SIL has the Odyssey and she loves loves loves it. Cant go wrong either way. Got mine 1 year old and saved a ton of money (it was a loaner for the dealer for a few months, worth asking about if you want new but are OK with not brand new)

Ditto Cheryl...you need to go and test drive these cars with your kids, all buckled in the back and find out which one seats everyone to your liking.

Personally, I've had a Honda Odyssey and test drove the Toyota and regret not getting the Toyota. But I"m so glad to not drive a van anymore:)

Sienna! I bought one (new) in 2005 and have never had any issues with it! I was told by a mechanic that did an oil change on it, that most mechanic shops do not like the Toyota, Sienna, only because they never break down!!

I have also heard/seen on the news that it has been rated one of the top safest mini van's on the market for years now, at least since I've had it!

We purchased our from the Toyota dealership on Ogden in Naperville, and they are wonderful! I do bring it there for oil changes to. Beautiful new building they have too :)

Good luck on your search :)

As far as details regarding the actual functionality, they are nearly identical save for one thing. The Odyssey has 6 LATCH locations whereas the Sienna (and every other minivan I've looked at) only has 3 (2 in the middle, one in the back row). The Odyssey also has the ability for the center row seats to expand sideways to allow for 3 car seats in the middle row without crowding.

Other than that, I have not been able to find a significant difference between the two. So for us, when we get to the point where we buy one, we will go with the Odyssey unless I just can't stand the way it drives. Good luck!

I have the town and country. For the price it had more features than the 2 you mentioned. I like that all the seats fold into the car. You can move a lot of stuff.
