Moms,
My daughter has just been mauled by a pack of mosquitos while we were visiting Nanny out on the east coast. The bites are all over her legs and have become swollen and look horrible! She doesn't seem to be bothered by the bites, but they seem to be getting worse! Any suggestions for an all-natural home remedy? Thanks so much!

Like many of the other moms suggested the baking soda and water paste works wonders. I have to do that with my 4 yr old who swells up really bad from any insect bites.
I also recommend oatmeal bath. The generic is as good as the others and is cheaper. This worked quite well the other night when my daughter got bites everywhere.

My Mom would put baking soda in lukewarm bathwater whenever we had rashes or bites. I remember it feeling great to soak in!

My daughter got eaten alive this summer too. A neighbor of ours suggested a simple home remedy cure that worked wonders. Dump a box (small box) of baking soda in a warm bath (not too deep) and let the chlid soak in the tub for as long as they want. It really worked great.

Baking Soda and water! Put just enough water in to make it into a paste-like substance. It helps draw anything out and sooths the skin and bite area. Keep it on for a few minutes (or as long as she'll let you!). You'll be amazed as to how well this works! My mom told me about this becasue my daughter's bites seem to get large and irritated. It really works!

Baking soda and water -- make a paste, put them on the bites. Your daughter will probably enjoy doing it, too. :) Good luck, bites SUCK!

My mom used to mix baking soda and water and put that on our bites. If they were really bad we would also take a bath in water that had baking soda in it.

It isn't all natural, but I also recently read that one of the best things to stop itch on a mosquito bite is to use roll on anti-persprient. I'm sure that isn't spelled right! :)

I read in a parenting magazine to use roll on deodorant and it works. Our bites would be gone in 10 - 20 minutes. There is some ingredient that is in the roll on that is good for itchiness.

It's not homemade, but it's all natural - Shaklee's Herbal Blend Multi-Purpose Cream. Very inexpensive and it takes the itch away for hours! Also great as a general-good-for-you lotion - love it on my feet! :)

Here's info on it and you can order online:http://www.shaklee.net/K./product/31751

It is delivered quickly - perhaps not for this incident of bites, but GREAT to have on hand for next time.

Read the label for ingredients!

my daughter used to have a terrible reaction to bites, she would swell up everywhere and just go crazy. We would give her benadryl at first and use dolosis bite care -- I think you can get it at a natural foods store (Whole foods etc). Go in and see what they have ..... we started going to a homeopathic person that is fantastic, my daughther no longer swells or reacts to bites. If you want her name, email me. It has been SO worth it for us!!! good luck!
