Hey mamas! Hoping you could help me out. A co-worker of mine makes her own hand lotion and I was thinking of giving it a try. It's hard to find something that works good for this time of year. Has anyone done this?? I found a website with recipes on it and they do seem pretty straightforward.

Not wanting to spend a ton of money ot time on doing this, and wanting to find something that smells great! Thanks ahead for any help!!!

I've had a personal experience with the "no poo" baking powder shampoo and vinager conditioner. I LOVED it. But now I stick to Burts Bees shampoo (organic) and use regular deep conditioner since I dye my hair a lot and it needs serious mousture. I've never done much with making my own lotion, but as far as keeping it simple I believe I heard aloe vera is really good. Also coconut butter! (or is it oil)? Don't forget to look into natural oils/butters that you can use... those things are great.

go for it! My niece makes her own lip gloss....Vaseline & KoolAid. Gross.

& one of my friends makes her own laundry detergent. She LOVES it!

Oh, & another niece avoids commercial shampoos. She makes a paste out of baking soda & water, applies it to her root areas, & then rinses with a mix of apple cider vinegar/water. She loves how clean her hair feels!

My step-mom makes all of her own soaps and lotions and they are amazing! They work so much better than store-bought. I am planning to have her teach M. how to make it when she comes to visit this summer. She says it is really easy. As for scents, she has given M. lilac, wild currant, and white sage. All of them smell wonderful. She also made strawberry scented lotion for my daughter, which, if you like the smell of strawberry would be wonderful too. (Personally, though, the strawberry scent kinda makes M. gag)
Good luck and have fun with it!

Simple, coconut oil. I love Nutiva Cold Pressed Coconut oil. Great price on Amazon right now, great reviews too if you are interested...

Works as chap-stick, lotion, diaper cream, lubricant, not to mention all the health benefits of cooking/baking with it.
