My daughter is 10 days old and she gets the hiccups atleast once a day. Is this normal?? I know there is nothing I can do, but I feel so bad for her because they upset her.

What can I do next?

My daughter got hiccups all the time, but they never seemed to bother her (they bothered me much more!). It's totally normal and really, nothing seemed to help my daughter with hers... they would just go away after a while. Eventually, she will grow out of it.

Congratulations!

The only thing that I know of that will help, is to feed her, even if it is just a little bit (maybe even water?) They really are not bothered by the hiccups nearly as much as we are, and it is very normal. Have fun and rest whenever you can! ~A.~

Congratulations! What a blessing. My dd got hiccups all the time. As long as your baby is growing, she will get hiccups, and newborns are not nearly as bothered by them as mommies are. Feeding her formula or breast milk may help, but you really don't need to worry too much. But never give a newborn plain water. (Unless of course ordered by a physician, for which I could never imagine a reason.) Newborns only need forumula or breast milk, and water can knock their nutrition off track.

Best wishes!! Take lots of pictures-she will be two years old in the blink of an eye. ;)

I feel for you. When I was pregnant with my son, he had the hiccups all the time. He still got them very often after he was born. I don't think there is anything that can be done. It is a horrible feeling to know that your little one is getting upset and you can't help. Sorry I didn't have any advice.

Hi K.,

How funny my daughter just now got the hiccups!! She is 9 weeks old and gets them once a day too. My son was the same way. I know they HATE it, and they get so fussy with them. The only thing I find that helps is to feed her, or give her water, and if that doesnt work just hold her and walk around and bounce her. Hope this helped.

J. :)
