Welcome Shay!

Wow, four boys!! I can't even imagine.

How did your parents feed you when you were a child? When I was a child, either I ate what was in front of me (always salad, veggies, meat and potato/rice/pasta) or I didn't eat. So, they can't eat Mc D's or fast food if you don't get it for them. I suggest you start buying groceries and cook more at home. Every one eating together is a great way to connect as well and builds great habits for the future. If you need help cooking certains foods, this is a great site for ideas or www.ichef.com is good as well. I know it is impossible to eat perfectly all the time but you can do it more often than not.

*hugs* Good luck!

Hi!
Thats what the web site is for, to ask advice and speak to other moms.
Four boys, boy oh boy, you have to have your hands full :) But very blessed.
I think Mom just has to remain firm and consistent. Routines are really good, and if they can't follow them then they need consquences, like time outs or special privaliges taken away, till they can learn to listen to Mom and respect her. Better to do it now while they are young, before they become teenagers and adults :)
Hope you can get some more advice as well :)
I love SuperNanny, she always gives me great ideas, and don't worry about your LD, I am sure everyone understands and will be supportive, so keep posting :)

Hello Shay! Welcome to the group! I can't imagine having 4 boys! I'm sure they keep you busy, but I also know how much boys love their mommies!

As for eating, I try to keep the healthy foods on hand like apples, bananas, and raw veggies. I also talk a lot about healthy foods and not so healthy foods and that makes them aware of what they are putting in their bodies. Trust me, we DO NOT eat healthy all the time! But for the most part, they enjoy healthy snacks and I make sure they are having something healthy with every meal (apples instead of fries at McDonald's).
I hope this helps:)

In my refrigerator on a specific shelf, I keep snacks that I'm fine with my daughter eating at any time. I let her pick a snack from the snack shelf. I stock it with things such as apples, pineapple, yogurt, raisins, prunes, string cheese, cheerios, whole grain crackers, etc. Even though some of those things don't require refrigeration, I put them there because they are special for her. We all need a treat once in awhile, but if the bad food isn't in the house, then you can't eat it, right?
I am guilty of being a "short order cook" meaning that I'll cook different food for my daughter than I will for my husband and I sometimes. But I feel if it's healthy and I know she'll eat it, then who cares? It's usually not all that time consuming anyway. My daughter is very hard to get to eat vegetables, so I have to get creative like making sweet potato baked fries or grating up carrots and hiding it in the spaghetti sauce. Healthy eating definitely takes planning and creativity sometimes.
