Helping These Freakin Men Plan Their Bachelor Party. Questions About the Poconos

My brother is getting married in May. The bachelor party is set for the first weekend in May. When I say set BTW I mean only in theory. NOTHING has actually been planned. Only discussed. They're going to the Poconos, they want to rent a nice place to stay for 2 nights and go shooting, ATVing and paintballing. I found one company online that helps set up activities and so on. Does anyone else have info on the area and places to go/call? These a-holes have not actually planned anything and I am helping them gather info and will present it all to my husband and my other brother to actually finalize and plan.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

you girls are right! LOL I will not bother doing anything. As for our girls weekend it is all set. We have awesome plans, everything is booked, and I could not be more excited. :-))

It's amazing that anything gets done, huh?

I guess it's good that they are planning an outdoorsy weekend and not a night of strippers! There are a zillion places in the Poconos - is anyone in a group a member of AAA? They offer a free travel agency, have the latest info on hotels that they inspect, may have info on packages, and can help choose a hotel that is amenable to this sort of event. You can also get the free tour guide for PA and there's a whole section on just the Poconos.

You can still look for a deal through Hotwire or Travelocity but I think you should start with (and perhaps stay with) a skilled travel agent you can actually talk to. Tell them exactly what you're looking for - including the off-site activities.

What kind of grown men don't know how to plan a guy's trip? Seriously, if they can't figure it out they don't deserve to go. Focus your energy on planning something fun for the girls and let them fend for themselves. Don't treat the men in your life like children, I mean, really, who wants to marry a man like that? Lame :-(

Stay out of the planning entirely. Seriously. It is way beyond what is normal involvement for a sister, and your husband is a grown man.

If they can't or won't make their own arrangements, so be it. If they have a lame time, so be it. You need to take a huge step back and let them have the opportunity to grow up and behave like capable adults.

If I were you, I'd opt to do the planning, rather than them end up not going to the Poconos and going to a strip club at the last minute instead. That would piss me off more than them not knowing how to plan a weekend...

L., not your job. Let them figure it out. They are grown men. Stop babying them and let them put on their big boy pants and do it themselves.

Oh, stay out of it. They don't need help. If they want an extravagant blowout where they spend hundreds of dollars just because your brother is getting married, and your brother won't be spending a dime (because it's thrown for him not by him) let them do it themselves.

If they ask for help, then suggest they rent a hall that has a bar attached like an Elk's Club and make them do it themselves. Make suggestions but don't do the work. If he ends up having nothing, then oh well.
