Help Me Come up with Nametag Ideas

I am teaching a Religious Education class for kindergartners starting next week. I wanted to have my kids make their own nametags. I've seen lots of rainbows and crosses, but I saw a template of a child and liked that better. Of course I can't remember where I saw it and can't find anything with google. It was a picture of a boy or girl and said "I am a child of God".

So if you have any idea where I can find this or something similar to it or have a better idea, I would REALLY appreciate it! I don't want it to be something complicated, but the nametags will help me remember their names and I can see which ones are still sitting there and know who is absent.

If there are any other Moms out there teaching Religious Ed and would like to share ideas, that would be great too. This is my first year doing it and it will be an adventure!

Thanks Moms!

M.

This will be my 8th year teaching Religious Ed (middle school) and it's amazing how quickly you learn the student's names. I would personally just do a "simple cross design" so the kids get used to the symbolism that it represents (that can even be an opening lesson!--i.e."What is this? Where do you see it? Do you have one hanging at home?" etc....). You will find that many of these children do not attend Church on a regular basis. Getting a feel for who attends Church, regularly, is helpful to determine the support they get at home, for the program. If the families are supportive of the program - it makes a huge difference in the attitude of the classroom.

They can color & personalize it, too and it has a good, broad horizontal surface for reading a name, which is what you want. I also taught kindergarten VBS. In many schools, they frown upon name tags with knotted ropes that hang over a neck, so taping one piece of the string on the left side of the horizontal cross bar, and taping the other on the right, will make the name tag less "hazardous" and will hold up for a few weeks, if you collect them, at the end of your class.

Best advise is... extra adult hands in your classroom. it is a rewarding adventure. Feel free to Personal message me if you have any other questions.

The clip art from a previous response could be placed on a busicess card template and then print them out. You could then write their names and let them color it. You could then laminate them or put the tags inside plastic name tag holders available at an office supply store.
When my kids went to Catholic school, in Kindergarten and preschool they had something similar and the teacher used heavy duty (3M I think) shipping tape as a laminate. For Kinder, she attached one of those pins that have the middle flat and they kids could pin it to themselves.

I used to teach kindergarten and I would not have them write their own names in the beginning. why don't you write it and they can decorate the back.
