J.B.
There is a legitimate work from home company called Transcription Express. I tried them out however I found it wasn't for me so I did not continue. I have a hard time listening on the headphones and trying to type everything they say including "hum" and "ah" so it just wasn't for me. I really wish I enjoyed it because it was a great company and great people to work for.
You have to go in and take a test which is just a basic vocabulary test and a typing test (you have to type 35wpm). If you pass that then you have a two week training period (free). After that you start your assignments. The only cost is that you have to buy a dictaphone machine with a foot pedal ($100+ if found on Craigslist). They were going to start a program which allowed you to rent one but I don't know if that went through or not. They are located in Gilbert. You pick up your assignments and then you have a few days to finish it and then you take it back. They have drop off locations if you are not near Gilbert. I know they have a location at Ellsworth and Baseline at the Postnet store.
Here is their website. www.transcriptionexpress.com
Good luck!
