I'm 44 and have heart palpatations for about 7 month now....I had everything checked out, wearing a monitor, stress test,
sonogram, evrything seem ok.But they are driving me crazy,it's exhausting, I feel like I'm coming back from jogging...
Is it a sign of menopause ( hormon shift) I'm still very regular. I do have anxiety disorder, but for 26 years...never had palpatations...
Just wondering.....

What can I do next?

I have anxeity disorder and have had heart palpatations for years. I am only 30. years ago when my anxeity was at its worst the palpatations were awful. Now I still get them sometimes but not like I did. When they were bad an antidepressant helped.

I had them too, just a few yrs younger then you, and there could be a couple nutritional reasons (I had an EKG and wore a halter monitor to be certain there was nothing wrong with heart first). One- have you had your iron levels checked? If you are slightly low in iron, this can cause palpitations per my acupuncturist. She recommended natural sources of iron, such as Goji Juice or Floramax (sp?) rather than iron supplements. Don't take extra iron unless you know you need it - ask your physician if your blood work shows you are low, or get tested for it, especially if any history of cancer (especially breast) - don't take without consulting your physician.

Also, you could be low in magnesium. Many of us are unless we supplement calcium/magnesium. That could also cause fluttering and palpitations.

I'm not a Dr., so please check with your physician about trying any supplements. These are just 2 nutritional deficiencies I was told could cause this. I was low in iron, so supplementing worked for me and none sense. Good luck!

Pretty common, based on my own experience and that of most of my older women friends. It could be related to age and hormonal changes, and also have some connection with your anxiety disorder. There's this ironic link between unacknowledged anxiety or tension, and a palpitation or two, and increased tension, and more palpitations.

Many of the women I know got through this with the help of some meditative practice that involved breathing or mindfulness. Yoga or various breathing practices or even gardening can help. Everybody I know has lived through it and eventually had fewer episodes, so try not to let worry about it make it worse.

You may be years out from menopause, but you're in a long stage called perimenopause, and the hormones and metabolism do begin to change noticably. Take good care of yourself.

Blessings.

I was having the same thing -- maybe a little earlier than you. I was probably 42 when it started. I had all sorts of tests. Then a nurse in my doctor's office told me it was probably pre-menopause. It was pretty annoying and regular when it started, but it has died down and only happens once in awhile now. And I'm 47 and still no menopause.

various medications and vitamins can cause this - too much Vitamin D is one such vitamin, and anti-depressants are one type of medication. Too much caffeine can also cause this.

It would be worth it to have your thyroid levels checked.
Heart palpitations are a sign of hyperthyroid.

Have you had your thyroid checked? Heart palpitations are very commonly associated with and over or under active thyroid. It is an easy blood test. Good luck!

I feel like every woman I know goes through this sometime in her 40s. She always becomes very scared that something is seriously wrong, goes through a battery of tests, and in the ends determines that it's menopause. My husband is an acupuncturist (sassackacupuncture.com) and he does lots of sessions for menopause with great results. You could try some natural help like that to see if it helps.
