Does anyone know when babies are supposed to be able to nod and shake their head? I can't find anything on this topic.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you everyone for your comments. I got the baby zone newsletter and it is helpful. She started shaking her head to get attention last month and it's really cute! If people do it back, she keeps going. She is really amazing!

I have a two month old and she does both. She has amazing control. I think it all depends on your baby. All babys grow differently. You can check out Babyzone.com there you can sign up for there newsletter that goes with yor babys age.I use it and they have good information.

My son could hold his head up straight from birth, but the doctor's said that was unusual, talk to your pediatrician.

it depends what you mean if you are talking about head control I believe thats about 3-4 months where they can hold there heads up n move it from one side to another but depends if the started have tummy time early or later too. if you like a nod and bobbing. my 1 yr old son does he shakes his head and bobs it to the music but we were also teaching him to by getting him to copy us and my 6 child did it with im all the time. so I believe it depends on the child see i that fact. i only had 2 children that would bob there heads so early i believe the others kids were around 1 1/2 yrs.

Put in your baby's birthday and you can see week by week what she "should" be able to do. That said, if you're worried - ask your pediatrician.

If you're still worried, call Early Childhood Intervention (211 can give you the information).
