I had my first Dr. appt April 28 and my dr couldn't hear a heart beat. We went to another ultrasound room and he done a vaginal ultrasound. We still couldn't hear a hearbeat. He asked me had I been any pain and I said no. He thought I might be miscarring. He told me to go to the lab so they could draw 2 tubes of blood to check my HCG levels and I was to go back on Sat. My HCG levels were 83,000 for Thursday's results and Saturday's results were 95,000. That Wed, May 4 I had to get another ultrasound done. They checked my uterus and my ovaries and they were fine. Then she checked the baby. After that was all done. She done a vaginal ultrasound and checked my uterus and my ovaries again. They were fine also. She then checked the baby. She said she seen the yoke sack but wasn't sure if was seeing the babies heartbeat or if it was mine. She said it could be off setted with mine, she wasn't sure. After that was over we went to see my Dr. he said he wasn't understanding why my HCG levels were so high. He asked me how far along I thought I was and I told him 12 weeks. He said my HCG levels were adding up to me being 12 weeks but I am really like 7 weeks along. He said I may be having a normal, abnormal or eptopic pregnancy. If I start bleeding or am in any pain like labor pains or start running a temperature then I am to go start to the ER. He also told me the next week on Monday and Wednesday I need to go give more blood so they can keep checking my HCG levels. On Thursday I will be having another ultrasound. Does anybody have any ideas of what may be going on with my body and is my baby going to be alright? Could I be having twins. I'm anxtious and ready for some answers. Please help.

Ok first of all why would you lie? When we found out that I was pregnant my last period was Dec 7, 2010. At that time we thought we were about 11 weeks. When they did the ultrasound it turned out that we were 7 weeks and 3 days. I was very dissapointed about the time frame. The dr's use your last period as a base time and that the ultrasound can only get the extact date. They told us that it all depended on when we actually concieved. It must have been right before my next period cause I never got it. You are only going by the information that you have that is best to your knowledge.
Last year I had a miscarriage at 5 weeks. When I thought that I was 7 weeks I began to have some very light bleeding. We had a ultrasound done and the sac was there but the baby never grew. The sac was empty. I had all the levels there but nothing happened. I knew that something was wrong when the tech kept asking me if I was sure I had the right dates. I didn't have any pain just the light bleeding.
Keeping you in my prayers and I hope that it was just a blip. Take care and Good Luck!!!!

Ok, this isn't the advice you are looking for, but it will help you know what is REALLY going on in the long run...

Don't lie to your doctor about how far along you are... or anything else for that matter. If you are only 7 weeks along, why tell them 12? Do you get a kick out of them worrying because they have faults information? They will find out anyway so why lie?

I'm so sorry that you are having to go through such a scare. I really have no advise but I am hoping for the best for you and your baby. For those that asked you why you lied, I do not think they read your post very well. You said you THOUGHT you were about 12 weeks, thats NOT lying! Big hugs to you.

This doesn't sound like twins to me. You would have seen two definite sacs with two definite heartbeats. When we saw twins at eight weeks it almost looked like a yin yang symbol, and my husband, the doctor, and I saw it the moment he turned the machine on. If you've had two recent ultrasounds, you'd have seen twins without having to be told (we both knew instantly there were two babies - the doctor didn't have to say anything).

This is probably something you don't want to hear, but if you're very sure of your dates (ie being 12 weeks along), it sounds as if you might have a blighted ovum. My first loss was due to a blighted ovum. Basically, very early on in the preganancy the baby stops growing, but your body thinks everything is normal, hence no bleeding and the continuation of pregnancy symptoms and an increase in hcg levels. However, the u/s often shows an empty sac or just the yolk and no viable baby. It's one of life's cruelest jokes in my opinion. Most times the body figures out what's going on by about 12 weeks and will miscarry naturally (if it hasn't occured sooner -- mine was at 9 weeks) and if not, then there will have to be a d and c. Now I'm not saying this is what's going on (I'm by no means a doctor), but from what you've said it does sound like a possibility. I have the link to a wonderful online resource/support group and if you're interested just PM me and I'll send you the link.

Good luck. I'll be thinking of you and keeping you in my prayers.

That all happen with me and I now have a healthy, beautiful girl who will be 1 this month! They kept checking my hcg levels, and mine were kind of funky too. They gave me a prescription for a progesterone supplement that I had to use my entire first trimester, and an additional month into the second trimester. It helped with my levels, and then once I was in the "safe period" they took me off of it and I carried her up to 39 weeks!!
I would suggest asking about a supplement...just to be safe!
Either way, congrats on the baby!!
