One of my best friends called me today freaking out , she has not been feeling well for a while :fatigue ,nausea, period all over the place …..She ordered one of those hormone tests as she was suspecting it was hormonal . Well on her first round tests ,her testosterone was a bit elevated , but everything else was good . On her second round her testosterone came back 3 times the normal level or the normal range for a MALE . After googling it , all her symptoms came as tumor on ovaries . She IS calling her doctor on Monday but I thought i'd check here to see if anybody have something similar happen to them and what was the outcome . TIA

What can I do next?

Sometimes Dr. Internet can be a terrifying dude. She does need to see her real doctor and get some real diagnostic tests. In the meantime, try to keep her calm and off the Google.

A couple of my friends have elevated testosterone levels and the other symptoms you mentioned because of PCOS - polycystic ovary syndrome. Cysts are a more likely scenario that ovarian tumors, but she won't know until she gets medical attention.

if her doctor is the one who ordered the tests, he'll be calling HER, right?
in the meantime, both of you need to keep calm, and stay off the internet.

I'd go to the ER and ask them to do an ultra sound or X-ray. I wouldn't want to wait. Or she could simply use the after hours phone number for her doc. All docs have a way of being reached or one person from their practice that is on call.
