So What Happened?

I did not qualify for a Endometrial Ablation, I have too much cell changes. My doctor was afraid that if there was significant changes, (cancer) they would not be able to find it until it was too late. :o(

I personally have not had it done but my best friend has. She said that her recovery was quick with little pain. However, she had it done a couple of years ago and her daughter was 11 years old. Because of that I don't know how it would be having little ones during the recovery time. As far as pain during the procedure, she was knocked out so no story there. Now I do believe they have better techniques these days like minally invasive surgery that makes it a piece of cake. Me personnaly, I had endometriosis and I had the Da Vinci hysterectomy in which they made small cuts instead of the big gash and my recovery was cut in half of what the traditional recovery would have been. My advice- find out everything from your surgeon that you can about the procedure and what to expect. Another source is the Mayo Clinic online. They have a very wide range of useful information on many different ailments and surgical procedures. Good luck to you.

I too had realy heavy periods after I had my 2nd child and had the procedure in Oct 2008. It was the best thing. I had it done as out patient surgery under general anestesia and their was no pain. I hardly remember any cramping. I had no periods for 3 months and now I have very light spotting for a day or two. Well worth it. Good luck.

I too had SUPER heavy bleeding. I chose the nova sure procedure and had it done in January. I was put under for the procedure in the hospital. I felt no pain after. Just a little uncomfortable for a few hours after. The next day I was fine... when I went in for my 2 week post op. The Dr. found a pretty severe infection in my uterus (still had no pain, just a little cramping). I had to be put on 3 different antibiotics... The procedure did not work for me. Which Im told is pretty rare. Every woman I have spoken to that has had it done is THRILLED with the results of either no period or a super light one. My first 3 periods were light and by the 4th one I was back to the "Waterfall"... So in April I had a historectomy. That came with many complications as well... I almost lost my life on 4-20-09 due to blood clots in my lungs after the surgery... Which again is rare for some one my age, Im only 28... so maby Im a just rare type of person... LOL!! Good luck with your choice.

I had this done March 2008. It has been the best thing. I was done having children and definately done with the heavy periods & migraines associated with them. It took almost 8 months before I became period free but so worth it. The periods that I did get were very light staining, thats it! there was very little pain associated with this proceedure, just some cramping but nothing tylenol couldn't help with. Good luck with your choice!

I had it 5 years ago and i couldn't be happier!!! the receover was just like having a baby, you have a milky discharge for 6 weeks, but after that it is wonderful. No periods, no bloating - yeah. The actual procedure was not painful, i was knocked out. And I didnt need the pain pills after the first day. I would Highly recommend it.

I had it done about 4 years ago with Dr. Keri Sweeten in Phoenix. It was the BEST thing I ever did! I no longer have periods, craps or even PMS! I was actually sedated for the procedure and don't remember a thing. Afterward the pain feels like menstrual cramps. I highly recommend you have it dome. Good Luck!!
