I need advise on how I could break my 2 1/2 year old son from wanting to hold or pull my hair for comfort? Where other kids have a blanket or a favorite toy my son has my hair and the hair of other female relatives when they pick him up. Any suggestions would be welcomed. Thank you

my 3 year old also loves to tug on to a strand of my hair or anyone elses to go to sleep... I tell her to hug me instead that it feel a lot better...

i'm thinking try to substitute something else as a lovey instead of your hair. a stuffed animal or doll

Wow, my 21 month old son does the same thing to me. Whenever he is mad or tired or just wants to relax & be held....he always goes for my hair. I am trying to get him out of it because when he pulls, it hurts. I have been telling him to play with his hair & it is sort of working out. I think he will grow out of it on his own. All kids have their way of being comforted & this must be the way for our sons. Good luck though!

My soon to be 2 year old son does the same thing .. he even plays with the dogs hair. When he goes for mine, I just keep redirecting his hand toward his hair. If he's the only person around he'll play with his hair .. I tried a doll but he didn't like the feel of the snythetic hair. Go figure. Hopefully it's just something they'll grow out of. Good luck.

I don't know where you stand on dolls for little boys, but what if you bought him a doll with hair that he can play with. My cousin when he was about 4 he did the same thing, sitting on the couch watching t.v. he would twirl my aunts hair into a knot. She gave him one of his sisters dolls and after a while it worked. He still twirled her hair on occasion but she was able to go do things and not have him wrapped around her. I wish you the best of luck!
