Here's a TMI question for everyone. I have a Gyno appointment in the morning and I'm due for my yearly pap smear. I was wondering if anyone knows if having sex with my DH tonight (unprotected since he's had a vascectomy) would have an effect on my pap smear. Thoughts?
Yes, semen or any type of lubricant can make the slides difficult to read. I work for a national lab only calling on OBGYNs and Maternal Fetal Medicine docs and this happens pretty frequently. The test will be rejected and you will need to go back...insurance companies don't like it and you probably don't either.

Recommends no sex in order to prevent "obscuring cervical cells" so they can be accurately read.

I've always been told no sex 24 hrs before a pap. It could effect the results.
Don't do it! You want a clear reading on YOUR cells only.
I don't know if it would mess up your pap or not but might be kinda gross to have that inside you as the doctor is examining you.

Yes. Don't do it! Wait until tomorrow. It could cause an abnormal pap and then you'd have to have further testing and then you would have to have paps more frequently, etc. It's easier to wait!
Shouldn't be a big deal, just shower & clean up afterwards!
I don't think it should. Paps are pretty hard to mess up unless they just don't do a good scraping. *shudder* I hate paps... :p
