I've been breastfeeding for 8 months now using a pump. My breasts have become very large. Does anyone think that they will go back their normal size once I'm done breastfeeding? I'm heavy enough on top and just feel so insecure about myself. I know it's worth it for my son, but i'm getting sore and extremely huge! Any advice will help! Thank you!

What can I do next?

I always ended up smaller than when I started! Before baby #1 I was a D cup. After baby #4 I am tend to stay a small B. I think it varies for everyone!

When I was bfing/pumping my breasts looked wonderful. Once I stopped, they deflated and now look like sad pancake boobies. I'll be restoring them to their pre-pregnancy size and will not feel guilty for one moment about it. Other friends of mine experienced an increase in size and never went back down. Looks like only time will tell.

Good for you! Everyone seems to be different but more often than not pregnancy, lactation and gravity will have an effect. They will be different when you are done.

They'll definitely go back down after you stop lactating. But they'll never be exactly the same as they were before. Both pregnancy and lactation take their toll. Some women end up bigger than they started, some end up smaller - only time will tell. Congrats on sticking with breastfeeding so long!

Hi Rachel~
I'm fairly small-chested to begin with. So when I was nursing, I was LOVING it!! Prior to my daughter, I used to be a small C/large B, then when nursing I was a DD, and now that I am done nursing, I'm down to a B cup, but barely. Everyone I've know has actually ended up being smaller after nursing, but I'm sure it varies by the person. When I started getting really sore, I started introducing my daughter to baby food, that way I gave my body a chance to slow down on my milk production, making me much more comfortable.
It can be quite a pain, but is well worth it!!
Hang in there, you'll be back to normal...or close to it, soon

To be honest...you just never know how your breasts will be once you stop nursing. Mine were smaller after my first child, larger after my second, and I am now expecting my third. We shall see. Breatfeeding takes a toll on your body and your breasts will never be the "same"...but you most likely will NOT stay the size you are now!

Also, if they are getting larger than usual right now and they are sore...you may not be getting enough out of them during each pumping session...there are some remedies you can find at many online websites for these types of problems!

Good luck, I hope all continues to go well...
