My husband and I relocated here a few yrs ago before we started our family. It is not a friendly neighborhood with very few kids. Now that my oldest has started kindergarten she really would like to have kids to play with. We are looking for a neighborhood with a swim club & good neighbors with kids in Raleigh. Does anyone have any recommendations?

What can I do next?

We just relocated to Raleigh in September and we LOVE our neighborhood. The first hours we were here children started knocking on our door for our girls to play. The children play outside everyday. The school Harris Creek is 2 years old, we had a tour yesterday and I am very impressed. There is no pool but down the road on 401 there is one to join. Neuse Crossing is the neighborhood. It is an established neighborhood but newer homes are being built. It is just north of 540 off 401 and Mitchell Mill. We do have the Neuse river behind us with hiking trails and if you have a kayak or enjoy fishing you can do it right in your own back yard. Hope this helps!

I echo Pamela B's answer...try Harrington Grove off Leesville, just off I-540. Tons of children, all ages, great pool and playground, plus sidewalks throughout the neighborhood for nice walks. You can also look at Dominion Park and Woodlawn which are next to Harrington Grove. They also have lots of kids, nice pools. All of these neighborhoods are in very good school districts (a new one being built right off 540 too). Good luck!

We had lived in the Dominion Park area neighborhood for 3 years now and couldn't imagine moving. There are a lot of kids and our neighbors are wonderful. It's close to Brier Creek, 540 and they are building the new Elementary school that could be an easy walk. Very central to everything we need. There is a lot of airport noise, but once you get used to it you don't even notice. If this is a concern, probably not the area you want to live in. Homes go for sale quickly, so it's a popular area. Good Luck

My sister and brother live in Raleigh. I will ask them about their neighborhoods and let you know, if you don't get any good responses before then.

Try Harrington Grove Subdivision off of Leesville Road....about 1200 families....also a pool/tennis court Club and huge playground. Also, great area for schools.
