I want to get my parents and in-laws something special for Christmas from my boys, but at a loss for a good idea. Suggestions would be very much appreciated!!!

So What Happened?

Thanks for the ideas, ladies! We've done the stepping stones and the calendars...such nice treasures! We might try the magnets this year. Your blog is so cute, Susan!!! =)

OK, to the craft store we go....

I will usually do a picture calendar for grandparents. There are a lot of great internet sites that offer this service. I have used shutterfly and also the service through my Apple computer. Its a great gift that is personal and that they can use.

A framed picture of your family or children is also another great idea.

One of those garden stepping stones. You can imprint the shape of their hands along with various trinkets.

I always get my Grandma and hubbys' Gma a tin of fancy cookies or Walker's Shortbreads.

We've done these too.
Get white pillow cases, wash them, take fabric paint, have the boys decorate the end.

Get fleece in two different colors, cut out a shape, then cut snips about an inch apart all along the edges, like fringe with both pieces of fleece together. Tie each corresponding end together, leave about 7 or 8 untied and then stuff the homemade pillow with polyfil. Tie rest of fringe.

Man's white t-shirt, wash them, have boys decorate with fabric paint or markers.

Make a calendar with the boys' artwork or pictures

Well what we are doing this year is getting a picture frame for her and putting pictures of the family in it.

I have done picture calendars in the past which are always a big hit. This year I did photo books from Shutterfly. They are really cheap and a great gift. I know other places do them too, like Walgreens.

My daughter (6 yr old) made my mother magnets for her birthday. I had to put them together, but my daughter did the artwork and picked out the photos. It was a fun craft to do together and I thought we'd do it again for my daughter's teacher gifts.

I blogged about them here:

with photos, so you can get an idea of what they look like. My mom loved them!
