You can also contact the local schools...there's a lot of grandparents raising grandkids these days...even parents starting later. I'm only a couple years younger than your sister and have 8 &5 yo boys.
My younger sister recently gained custody of her granddaughter. She is loojking for a group of other grandmothers going through a similar situation to connect with. I do not know whast resources to look for online or who to contact. I would welcome any suggestions.
My great neice is going to be 3 in May and she is a little ball of energy, like a normal 3 year old. My sister is going to be 42. Looking forward to hearing from anyone that can help!!!

You might also find some information at Senior Centers in Federal Way as Senior Centers have lots of resources, some of which will be helpful for grandparents raising grandchildren. Happy Grandparenting.
there's a new grandparents group on Meetup.com. http://newparents.meetup.com/462/ that's in Federal Way! the organizer is a really neat lady who watches her granddaughter during the day. give that a shot!
Does your sister have any other children at home? I am a year older than your sister with an 11,8,6 year old boys, and boy/girl twins that will be 3 in April So I can relate with being an older parent. Also I have been a foster parent for 11 years. There are alot of older mothers at the schools lately. she could try there. What exactly is she looking for? Grandmothers raising grandchildren or older mothers?
I'm a stay at home mom of 5 all full of energy!
I am a 44 year old biological Mother to an 8 year old and 3 year old daughters. Many of our Mothers who homeschool are in the 40+ range here in Renton, WA. We have a homeschool support association meeting on the second Friday of every month at the Fairwood Library at 1pm. The Highline Homeschool Center in Burien also has a good group of people when the little one reaches school age. I am a stay at home Mom and you may contact me. One of my friends at the Homeschool center is a 68 year old grandma raising her 11 year old grandson since the age of 3 days.

Hi, My husband and I recently adopted young triplets from the foster system. We are both in our 40's. We consider ourselves to be more stable, and more able and willing to love and connect with young children at this stage of our lives. Plus, young children keep us mentally and physically younger!
