Now that we have this Wii U that comes with 1 Gamepad, what else do I need to buy? I have 2 boys, so at the very least I will need to buy a second controller. I really know nothing about Wii, so please give advice. I'm a little overwhelmed :-)
ETA - I do plan to go to Game Stop this afternoon. They've been great with other questions. Still, I welcome any advice from personal experience.
I suggest you go to a store like GameStop (do they have those where you are?). You need a second controller but not a second game pad - controllers are a lot less expensive than the game pad that came with it. A Wii U can play both Wii U games as well as regular Wii games. You can buy second hand Wii games really inexpensively. You can even find them on Craigslist.
Allow the kids to get at least one individual game that they can play by themselves. Sometimes you just want to play alone. Sometimes you want the whole group but sometimes you want no stress or excitement, you just want to be alone.
There are games that have adult games...like bowling or tennis and there are games where you compete against another player. Try to find a happy medium.
Yay! The people at Gamestop can advise you, but you will need a Wii Remote (with Plus capabilities) for sure for 2 player games. You may want more than one if you plan to play family games. The Wii U only uses 1 gamepad, so you will not buy a second one of those.
