Hello,
We will be selling our house and divorcing shortly...very peacefully...I am looking into areas that have good school districts to rent, but have a center city feel kind of...I want to be in walking distance to libraries and restaurants...The feel of philly without living in it. I work in Doylestown her dad works in Conschocken, I was looking primarily at Doylestown because we both like it (we decided we're def. living in the same school district for our daughters sake) but I feel (he hasn't said anything) thats unfair and feel I should look at places in between or near his work as well. So any thoughts on any other towns that have that main street kind of feel to it, or that are near or in between the places we work? I was looking at Radnor recently, I love their school district.

What can I do next?

Here is a link to the PA Ed Dept PSSA results. You can see the results broken down by district and even by school.

I'm in Lower Merion, specifically in Bryn Mawr. Conshohocken is about 10 minutes away. I cannot even tell you how much I LOVE this school district. We looked at Radnor a few years ago, too, and certainly it is a great school district. But it seemed REALLY suburban to M.. I like Lower Merion because you have easy access to Philly and you've got towns like Ardmore and Bryn Mawr which are really walkable and have nice little restaurants and places to go. We moved here two years ago. We looked at Radnor, T/E, Garnet Valley, Haverford and Lower Merion. For us, it was actually a no-brainer to live in Lower Merion. But as far as schools go, you can't go wrong with any of the school districts around here - they're all very good.

I went to Bryn Mawr College and did my student teaching at Lower Merion HS, which had an excellent reputation. There was another school in the same district (I still don't really understand how school districts work around there) that started with an "H" that had a reputation as an even better more "frufru" public school. Anyway, having lived off campus in the Bryn Mawr area, I think that there's a lot of choice in terms of houses/apartments in that area, and the schools are great. Good luck!

We live in Wayne and love it! We can walk to so many things: library, parks, post office, bank, movie theater, tons of restaurants and stores...plus the Conestoga trail. The public schools (Radnor) are the best in the area. The train is great and 476 is also right here.
