Hi Mamas:

I need a good and simple roll recipe. I am bringing 2 dozen to the family dinner on Thursday afternoon and I would rather make them than buy them if at all possible. I need to make them by Wed evening as we are leaving for families house that is 4 hours away on Thanksgiving morning. Thanks...

What can I do next?

SISTER SCHUBERTS!!!! You seriously do not need to make homemade--these taste homemade. I promise! My 87-year-old grandmother has been making homemade rolls for decades. She tasted a Sister Schubert roll and said, "Wow! I guess I don't have to keeping making my own--we can just eat these instead!!"

You're going to think I've lost my mind, but please believe me. These are the VERY BEST rolls (I'm assuming you mean yeast rolls) ...

I buy them at our local food lion, but have also seen them at Walmart. My DH will eat an ENTIRE pan by himself. They are delicious and taste like homemade. My picky, picky brother couldn't tell the difference. You will not be disappointed and it will be less stressful.

[Take it from one who has flopped with homemade rolls catastrophically ... We once tried to raise them in the dryer, 'cause the damn things WOULD NOT rise for baking. (Doesn't work btw ... ;+} .... )]

appetizers, entre, or dessert rolls?

appetizers:
- taco rolls, tortillas filled with cream cheese and taco seasoning, melt cream cheese in microwave and add seasoning while warm, spread a thin layer on each tortilla and roll them up. then cut them up into bit size pieces.
- cucumber rolls, tortillas filled with dill cream cheese and shaved cucumber, roll up the same way as the first recipe.

Entre:
-salad rolls, tortillas filled with mixed greens and grated cheese, add blue cheese and classic herb salad dressing, top with a dollop of sour crewm, and roll up.
- classic sandwich, wrap filled with sliced meats, sliced cheese, your choice of condiments, before serving, put each in a sandwich press to grill the wrap and slightly melt the cheese.

Desserts:
- berry cream cheese, wrap covered in, sweetened cream cheese (add brown sugar to melted cream cheese) with dried berries mixed into it. roll up, and cut into bite size pieces.
- pbj, wrap made into a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, serve with chocolate pudding.

hope one of this helps :)
