Good luck with the new baby!!!
Emily Suzanne sounds nice!
or....Josephine (josie n/name is cute), Julia/Jillian all sound pretty classic to me. My fav name would be Vivian though (vivi for a n/name). Good luck & congrats!
Hi M., congratulations on your pregnancy! My favorite classic/older girls names are Charlotte, Amelia and Lilah.
Good luck in choosing!
You can go to the social security admin to look up names - I think someone else recommended this too and provided the link. I did that with my first daughter, Natalie. We named our second daughter Amelia, which everyone told me would be too old fashioned but we love the name.
Some other names - Elizabeth, Willa, Olive, Olivia, Clara, Clare, Virginia, Beverly
My daughter's middle name is Maisey. We both loved it but didn't want it as a first name so she wouldn't get teased.
M.,
Congratulations! Curious as to your 1st baby's name, too!
In our family we have these more traditional names:
Mary, Helen, Alice, Eula, Sophira, Thelma, Dorothy, Shirley, Ann, Maria, Carole/Carrel/Kerrel.
Good Luck!
M.
My second daughter is Abigail Grace - and we call her Abbie.
I've always loved LILLIAN, but named my 2nd daughter Lynnae which is not common. Gretta just came to me and Merideth. Good luck! H.

My daughter's name is Abigail...but we call her Abby. Some old fashioned names that come to mind are...
Felicity and Isabella - they are my favorites (for now at least).
Congrats on your second! A website I like is behindthename.com.
It might help. I just had a boy 6 1/2 mo. ago, Jackson William, but a girl name we liked was Isabella. My hubby chimmed in Abigail. There are so many beautiful old fashioned names and behindthename might be a good source and it gives background etc. God Bless

Hi M.,
Our daughter's name is Amelia Marie and I picked that name for the very reason that it was old-fashioned and un-common. I came to learn later from one of my Great Aunts that I had a Great-Great-Great Aunt Amelia. It was cool to find that out!
Other great "old-fashioned" names that I love are Elizabeth (I have a neice named that), Madeline, and Olivia. Best wishes on your new arrival!
check out a book called Baby Name Wizard. It's excellent.
My daughters' names are Madeline and Audrey. I only saw one 'Audrey' when looking through the responses to your question. It is becoming a bit more popular as I've heard the name a couple of times recently for little girls/babies but I still love it and it is definitely old-fashioned. Congrats and good luck!! :)
Sara or Sarah is a great name. We names our daughter Sara Jayne 15 years ago because it was an old fashioned name.

Hi Ladies,
No one has mentioned my name, E. or my mother's, Annette. Both names have been in our family for 5 generations, at least that's as far back as we know. So both are old and if I can say so, pretty!
I, too, am pregnant with No.2, so this was a fun thread to read! Thanks!
My daughter is named Grace Elizabeth.
Try H.. I love it, lol cause it's my name. I like Alexandria and Carol or even Katherine.

Good Luck!
We named our daughter Penelope Jane; people always comment on how cute it is. And it suits her! I love old-fashioned names, too. My son is Jack Lawrence, but if he had been a girl he would have been Josephine Jane. (Jane was my late mother in law.)
I also love Catherine (shortened to Catie), and Willa.
I always liked my grandmothers name - Leda Elise.
This is a great thread! I have always loved Olivia as a beautiful, old-fashioned name, but now it seems to be THE name of choice for everyone in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Another beautiful one is Guinevere(there are variations of the spelling), as in the King Arthur stories. Then she can be Gwen for short.
Love the old fashion names : Grace, Catherine and Caroline! Good luck with you search and your new bundle of joy!

Hi M.
Do you know your family history? You might want to choose a name from the family tree. My oldest daughter is Anastasia and she's fifth generation with that name in our family -- it switches each generation from first to middle name, through my mother's side of the family. We've had Stasia, Annie, Ana, derived from that name and each Anastasia seems to be happy she has the name. I also have a Marianne and Laura.
You could go with something that reflects your cultural heritage, or just something that sounds good. Be aware there are plenty of Lily (Lillie, Lilly) girls around now and tons of Emilys, Ashleys and Emmas. One cousin of mine named her daughters Lydia and Adeline -- nice old fashioned names. You don't hear Adeline very much these days either. In the 50's there were plenty of Patricias and Catherines plus the inevitable Mary xxx - fit Jane in or Ann, Pat, Claire, whatever other name you wanted to join to Mary. I only know of one Patricia in many recent years. Same with Susan. So you might want to consider those names.
Ask any elementary school or preschool teacher you know and they will tell you what the hot names are so you can try to avoid using those names.
There's always my name -- Rosemarie. Not many of us around either!
Congratulations and good luck. Naming babies can be quite a challenge!

I love flower names....very old fashioned. Rose, Lily, Daisy, Violet, Hyacinth, etc. You can make a girl's name of almost any flower name - you could even choose your favorite flower...

Why not go back through your family tree (and your husband's) as far as you can and check out all the names- first AND last. You might find one you like!
Hi M.,
You probably have a ton of choices now but here are a few more. First Suzanne is a great first name, my sister is Suzanne Marie (no one calls her Sue). I also like the sound of a 3 syllable first name with Suzanne as the middle name. I also like names with easy nicknames.
But here are some of my favorites:
Rosemary
Bernadette
Victoria (nickname Tori not Vicky)
Miranda
Veronica
Maryrose
Margaret (Maggie or Meg)
Angeline
Lillian
Beatrice
Best of luck!
Giuliana

There are lots of baby name websites out there to give you some great ideas. www.ParentHood.com has a good one. They give you hundreds of names to review to find that perfect one.
Congratulations and Best of Luck!

Hazel is both old-fashioned and seems to be making a fashionable come-back.
On a separate note, I'm an avid scrapbooker in Stamford and love meeting fellow scrappers. Do you happen to know of any upcoming crops in Fairfield County?
Coincidentally, I also just got involved in fundraising for Walk Now for Autism this year, in support of 2 friends with autistic family members. Gpd
GGood luck in your search for the right name if it's a girl!

Hi M.,
Congratulations on the upcoming birth of your child. My husband and I always had a hard time picking names for our children, but when we finally and shockingly had a girl after three boys we named her Rebecca. It's an old fashion name but we loved it. All the best with your new little one.
Congrats! Here's a few of my favorites.

-Mary
-Elizabeth

-Anna
I wish you the best.

I named my second daughter Audrey Rose. My oldest is Caroline Grace. Like some other posters, I also like Charlotte and Amelia. Finally, my grandmother's name was Ilah, which is a good alternative spelling for the name Isla, which I have noticed is gaining some popularity today (but a lot of people will mispronounce it because of the spelling).
We have two new little girls in our family. One born in Apr, the other in June.
We have an Emily Rose, (Emily is quite popular right now) and an Ellen.
