Gift Ideas for Baby Shower

It's for a very close friend of mine and it's her first baby. For my baby she knitted a blanket and gave a bracelet for engraving, which I thought was super sweet. I am not very crafty and have no idea what to get her. She is also a very popular gal and is having 3 showers, so I know she will get everything she "needs" so, I would like to get something special, but I'm blocked for ideas. Any suggestions?? Thanks Moms!

You could make her a diaper cake with a bottle of champagne in the middle:) I love the anais blankets, dont forget some mylicon:) Also, the simple thing of getting something off of her registry that she really needs is so appreciated. Or something for her, like a cleaning lady for a day, massage after baby.

Get her a gift card for some where that does photo's (JC penneys, sears, picture people etc..) and a really nice frame and photo book. a special little book for grandma's purse is always a nice touch also. So many people give clothing and toys but you get photos done a lot the first year. so a photo with gift card to get photo's done is a nice gift.

Baby Legs are always a cute and great gift. My son is 17 months old and we still use all his! Personalized and monogrammed items are lovely.

What about making her a diaper cake?
If you know the name/sex of the baby, you could decorate the 'cake' with pinks or blues... Maybe get something extra special for the very top of the cake - like a necklace with the baby's name engraved on it... or buy a onesie with the baby's name printed on it (I'm sure there is a company that does this if you google it online)...
You can find instructions on how to make a diaper cake online too... and they're not very hard to do. I'd suggest going with larger sized diapers (like 3s or 4s) though, if you do make one.
I definitely also like the idea of doing a hand mold or a handprint mold kit. Gift cards make good "decorations" for diaper cakes too - that way after her 3 showers, if there is anything she didn't get that she wants/needs, she'll be able to get it.
Good luck!

When is she due? you could go find a Christmas ornament that has 3 pictures on it. A picture of her, daddy and then empty for the baby. on the bottom of my ornament is our last name. AFTER my baby was born, my friend sent me a picture frame from personalizationmall.com that included my babys full name, birthday and weight which was super cool to get. here is the link http://www.personalizationmall.com/Personalized-Newborn-B...
Since she is having sooo many showers and really wont need anything for the baby..how about you buy her a pregnancy massage...or something at a spa and you two can go together..you can wrap the gift cert with the ornament and then after the baby is born, send the picture frame...sounds perfect to me :):) Good luck

I recently had my second baby and a group of my friends gave me an embroidered blanket. It was just a standard, store bought baby blanket but they had it embroidered with my baby's name, birth date, time, weight and length along with some flowers. I absolutely love it.

For the shower you could just give her the plain blanket and explain you'll have it embroidered after the baby arrives. Look in the yellow pages/online for a place that does machine embroidery and get in touch with them to see what kind of blanket material they recommend.

At a bridal shower I attended, the host brought a bunch of thank-you cards out for everyone to preaddress during the shower (which would save a lot of time, I think, and would give everyone something to do during the opening of gifts!). Maybe coordinate with the host to see if you could bring stamped envelopes and thank-you cards to the baby shower? If she's having 3 showers, she might like the idea and use it again! Not sure about the cost of doing this -- depends on the size of the shower, I guess, so it might not really be special enough on its own, but maybe along with another gift?

My staple gift is one that many moms have LOVED and passed on ... The Miracle Blanket ... and or if she is breastfeeding a certificate for her first lactation consultation.

Give her a day of pampering. Go check out some spas and see if they have anything like a maternity day with a prenatal massage. Most likely at the shower she will get everything she needs for the baby but not really anything for herself. You could also plan for you two to go together and have lunch and make it a whole day. Best of luck!

I love books. You could buy her one that was special to you as a child and write a heartfelt note inside. Or you could make a book online (shutterfly, snapfish, costco). If you make a book you could make it very simple with a picture on one page and a word on the other, it could be pictures of her family mom, dad, gramma or even places that are special to you like with simple words on the opposite page like home or gazebo.

Diapers are always appreciated! If you want to get something special, you could give her a gift card to get a mold of her baby's hand or foot. A friend of mine got one for her baby shower, and now she has this little ceramic statue of her son's fist. She loved it so much that she bought one herself for her second child.

BOOKS! Lots and lots of board books for her and baby to have hours of enjoyment right from the start. Reading increases vocabulary, bonding, listening and all language based skills for school. A few starter parenting books for mommy would be nice as well. A good one is What Every Baby Needs by Sally Goddard Blythe.

Playskool Busy Ball Popper...you can find it at Walmart or Target for about $20. This is the greatest because there are almost no toys you can really buy for tiny babies. They love to watch it from 6 months on and start playing with it at 9 months. I have received this as a shower gift and also bought it for lots of showers and it's a huge hit. She probably won't get a duplicate as it's very unique. The photos and video she will take with the baby watching it are priceless!
