yes they like the extra bit of attention and care. its sweet.
Mamas & Papas-
DS, 2.5 years old points to his knees, which were scrapped up over a month ago and have long since healed, tells us booboo on the knee, kiss it to make it better, let's wipe them clean, and let's wash them clean with water. We use this to our advantage to get him to sit in the bath, but I'm wondering, do your kids hold onto ghosts of booboos past?
Thanks for your input.

Wildwoman- There's no discernable pain or tenderness to the touch, and he isn't limping or slowing down, but thanks for pointing out that there might be a valid ongoing problem.

Kids hold onto anything that gets them attention when they want it.
Oh yes! My son did that all the time when he was that age. I think it's a combination of reenacting a schema and really liking the attention and cuddling! Now at 5, if he has a cut or bruise it's 50/50 he remembers how it happened... an hour before!
Yes they do, it's just what some little ones do. Have you kissed it and said, 'boo boo is all gone now.'
If you're using it to get him to sit in the bath then he's probably responding to what you're saying, thinking that's the thing to do bc you're saying it is.

Is it possible he banged up his knees more than just a scrape and the INSIDE hurts? Does he limp? Favor the leg? if so - then maybe he's got internal damage...if not? he LOVES the attention!!! What kid doesn't like the attention? :)
Yes! my kids have needed "band aids" and kisses when the boo-boo is LONG gone...At a certain point, I tell them - my kisses must be broken if their boo-boo is not gone!! :) that gets them back to the present!
