Getting Sand Out of a 3 Year Old's Head?

Maybe its not rocket science but no matter how hard I try and how much I shampoo, I can never get sand out completely from my 3 year old's head. She has curly thick hair that fall a little below her shoulders. Sometimes she likes to take a bath in sand and becomes so hard for me to get it out. Any suggestions?

What can I do next?

Baby powder. Sprinkle baby powder in her hair and scalp. It makes it very easy to get that sand off. I read it in a magazine this summer so took a container with us to the beach. Many, how I wish I had known it worked so well last year. I was able to brush the sand right off of myself and kids--nad they smelled nice. : )
Then all you have to do is brush her hair really well and wash.

Try baby powder, at the beach one day a young mom was putting baby powder on her kids and brushing it off I asked her why she was doing that and she said the baby powder makes the sand come off really easy. J.

Adding water will actually make the stand stick. The key is to lightly brush your child's hair with your fingertips while it's dry before you wash her hair. Also have her tilt her head on the side that you are working on.

My son also has thick curly hair. We use the wand attachment of the shower and just keep the water running. It takes a long time when we have been to the beach.

I echo the baby powder suggestion. I'm always using it for sand. It quickly absorbs the moisture allowing the sand easily falls off. Water from showers/baths just makes it worse!

The secret is to try to get it out while it's dry.
Wet sand is a pain!
