I wouldn't think you would want to name your two sons the same thing. I'm a 5th generation Katherine, and my other siblings' names certainly aren't all Katherine lol. That would get confusing! If you want to stick with the family name thing, maybe there is another person in your family whose name you could carry on?

In the end though, one of the joys of creating, carrying, and then giving birth to a child, is that you can name it whatever you want! Good luck and congratulations!

Yes, you stop after the first born. Now you get to name your son something you want to name him!

I always believed it was just the first born, but Im not an etiquette queen. All I know is if this 2nd baby was a boy, I refused to have Clifton ANYWHERE, I already had to use that name for my son and didnt want to have to work around it again...ha.

Traditionally it is the first born son that gets named after the father if you pass along the name.

Any boy in the family can be named after him no matter what birth order he was, but, only ONE gets the name and then he has the choice when he has a son to pass it along to him.

I do believe it is only the first born son. My grandfather george is named after his father but his younger brother has a different name. Everyone I know who is a Jr or II or III is the first born son.
