Fun Mingle Stuff You've Done at Grown-up Parties/events?

I'm having a bunch of ladies over next Friday, so far 21, lots of them do not know each other. A few ladies have voiced feelings of isolation, or I've been meaning to introduce some to others... so that was the reason for the gathering. I had a party a couple of years ago with a theme and some games and people loved it and new friends were made..I liked that some shy people made new friends.

So, one successful game was a trivia game, everyone had to bring one piece of trivia in keeping with the theme and it got everyone joking around and questioning each other...and the other was everyone brought a secret fact about themselves and one by one people drew the facts out of a bowl and tried to guess who it was about, and it got lots of fun conversations going.

I'm definitely having everyone introduce themselves to group (if they want and they know what type of gathering this is so they're not blind-sided) and I'm doing the secret fact thing again so that may take up enough time outside of just mingling..but any other fun ideas? Have you had any activities that were really fun at parties or events before that you would love to do again?

You take sticky name badges and write One person or character on them.

Stick the name tag on their back as they walk in, they need to walk up to people and ask 1 yes or no question. When they guess correctly, they put their tag on their front.

Am I human? Am I an animal? Am I famous.? Am I alive?

It is always fun..

One party game I enjoyed was a spin off six degrees of kevin bacon.
everyone had a name tag with their own name, that of an actor and a movie. you were supposed to find people who were in your movie, or movies in which your actor appeared.

That and some cocktails and everyone was really happy.

Best,

Bunco can be fun for larger groups. That way they can talk in smaller groups as you play.

Two things that I've done:

1. Table Topics
2. Another game (can't remember) with cards where unrelated questions are listed. Go around the table/room and have everybody answer the same questions or pick one. It's a good ice-breaker.

The only time I have played a game at this type of thing was out monthly bunco group. We everybody put in $10 and at the end of the night, we paid out for 4 prize places.

In the past, we have held big parties but never had a theme, etc. A couple of years we did a crawfish boil and it got so huge I didn't know some of the people at my house!!

We've also had block parties, grill burgers, everyone brings a dish, rent out a bounce house for little ones, etc.

I hope you have a great event! Sounds fun!

We adults don't play games enough. There's the one where you put a sticky note with the name of a famous person on everyone's forehead, and then they ask others questions until they figure out who they are. (Laurie describes this game.)

Charades is always fun. I was at a party not long ago where we played charades in teams. Really fun.

Ooh, yeah Table Topics is great.

You could check pintrest. There was one on there I pinned that I would like to try. You put a piece of tape down the middle of the floor. Then you ask yess or no questions and they switch sides depending on the answer.

For example: have you ever been to a drive in movie?
Have you been on a cruse?
Have you had surgery, lol, for older folks!
Do you tweet?

Experience sort of questions that help people to get to know one another or find someone with common interests. You could even ask your guest to supply some questions. Sounds like fun to me.

aren't you wonderful?
i'm one of the oddballs who tends to find 'getting to know you' games excruciating, but i have to admit, there are times when they've been incredibly helpful. and i love that you are doing it to bring together folks who are struggling with isolation, and creating a fun social atmosphere.
no suggestions- this is so not up my alley- but i so admire you for doing this!

You can put colored candies (m&m, starbursts) in a bowl, have people pick 1 or couple colors and ask questions based on the color.
