Hey moms, it's me again. I recently asked about moving into a rental & finding a home for our Pitbull. Well, it's close to dooms day & I have not been able to find a home. I have called several rescue kennels & several friends and had no sucess. I just want to put it out there, if you & or someone that you know & trust is looking for a great dog, I have one FREE. Yes, she is a pitbull BUT, Chica is great w/kids, I have 3. She loves to play & she thinks she's human. Please if you have any ideas, please let me know.

Thank you,

What can I do next?

Please please please do not offer a dog free to a good home! Ever!

There are people out there called "Class B Animal Dealers." Class A Animal Dealers breed dogs (and cats and other animals) and sell them to animal testing labs legally. Class B animal dealers do not breed the animals that they sell to animal testing labs. Instead, they collect "free to a good home" animals from the internet, or "find" animals to do so. These dealers are legal in some states and illegal in others, but they exist in every state. They do not have to tell you why they are taking your pet, and they are often experienced about putting on a good show. This is one reason why all rescues, even those with plenty of funds, always charge for our pets. Most Class B dealers aren't eager to pay a lot per dog or cat, and even though it puts off potential adopters, rescues would rather risk that than adopt out to a dealer.

Because you have a pitbull, your animal is particular risk, since you don't just have to worry about Class B dealers, but also dog-fighters. Go on petfinder.com, look up the rescues in your area, and just start calling. If they tell you they have no space, then ask them if they can recommend anyone. Ask them if they will do a courtesy listing.

If you cannot find anyone at all, find a local SPCA. Yes, they may put your dog down, just like any pound, but they often have better funding than the local animal shelter.

I'm sorry, and good luck.

I will rack my brain to see if anyone I know near you can take the dog.

Please DO NOT list your dog for free on Craigslist. People take those dogs for fighting. Yours would just be used as bait. Please don't do that.

I will work on this today. Feel free to PM if you need to.

No way you can take this lovely dog with you?

Edit: I looked up this in your area (will, also PM you w/the info): type in pitbull.rescueme.org/florida on google search. Some #'s for pitbull rescue in FL: ###-###-####; ###-###-####; ###-###-####. I've called a gf living in FL & told her to ask her friends if there if they'd like to take her. HHold on to her fr a bit.

Oh this breaks my heart!!
Have you tried petfinder.com? There are a bunch of rescue groups on there. Call them all.
Or maybe take your dog to a pet adoption place, like a Saturday at Pet Co or Pet Smart.
I have 3 Pit mixes & they are wonderful dogs. I really hope you find a new home.
Wait, I thought of one more thing.
Take pictures of him/her & post on your Facebook wall & ask others to share. Another thing is create an email along w/current photos & ask people to forward around. Explain your story. You can email me & I'll forward it around for you too. Be sure to include photos. That's how you get people to help.

Have you considered calling the pitbull rescue lady in California? I can't remember the name of her business, but she works with pitbulls and parolees and used to have a show. She may take your dog. She finds homes for them all over. Good luck!

Try looking on metup.com for groups for persons with pets. I found one near me and I signed up as a member. I have 3 dogs amd a cat. One of the dogs was rescued by my daughter about a year ago, but she lives with me. Since my daughter can't find a rental that will allow dogs, I am looking for a new home for her. I don't dislike her--but I don't like her either. She's about 15 months old a lab/blue healer and kinda hyper. The other dogs both about 7 yrs old are small dogs don't like her there's a lot of growling and snarling even after a year.

So I feel your pain. The fact that I want to get rid of her makes me feel guilty. But I want my peaceful home back and this dog is creating chaos.

I don't have any suggestions, but I just wanted to say how sorry I am that you can't find a home for your beloved dog. It must feel like you're going to abandon one of your children.

Again, just so sorry for you and Chica!

I just wanted to say to everyone reading this that pitbulls are beautiful, loving, loyal, wonderful, family dogs! Don't let the fact that this dog is a "pitbull" prevent you from giving it a home.
IT IS JUST ANOTHER FORM OF PREJUDICE, ANOTHER FORM OF DISCRIMINATION, WHEN PEOPLE HATE THE BREED AND DO NOT GIVE THE INDIVIDUAL ANIMAL A CHANCE.
We teach our children that you cannot do this in our society.
My heart goes out to you - I would take the dog if I could. I love pitbulls. One of the nicest dogs I ever had was a pitbull.

Have you put an ad online? Like Craigslist? Free to a good home?

You could also print out some flyers and put them up around your area, some businesses have bulletin boards that you can put them up on too, so that you can then you know people are seeing it.
