That's why I love California! Sunny and pushing 70 degrees. ( : Hang in there, spring is around the corner.
How did those in the blizzard path do? Our rds are still terrible ! It took 4 hrs to plow the driveway w/ all the snow !
HERE in CT--It is pretty bad. A few of my cousins have not been plowed out yet. They can't even drive down the streets !!! And one of the food delivery guys I know said that Bridgeport is a disaster w/ all the snow !!! It's a city, so I can see how the snow is plied sooo high !
I saw an accident right out my window today. Our street is only ONE lane. It's a nightmare even to get out of any driveway because the snow is piled about 6 or 7 feet !!!!
I am blessed that we did not lose power.
I bet that schools won't open for a few days.
40 inces of snow has been HORRIBLE !!! If we have rain on top of this--Where will all the water go?
Can I move down south?

We're fine - we got a little over 2 feet. We kept our power, which was my biggest worry. It took about 2 hours to clear the driveway with a snow blower, but we did about an hour's worth of snow blowing and shoveling last night in the middle of the storm as well. I don't imagine that the kids will have school until Tuesday or Wednesday. It's supposed to rain next week so we have to clear the roof tomorrow and keep an eye on flooding. But overall, we're just fine - hope everyone else is too!
We got 26 inches, took my husband 3 hours to clear our short driveway with the snowblower. Our street was not plowed until early this evening.
We had to shovel an area in the backyard where the dogs could do their business.
It is pretty!!!
Official count in my city is 19 inches. But the wind had it's own agenda so there are spots with no snow at all and other spots that are 4 or 5 feet high. I'm in an apt complex so no driveways. We did have to move the cars so they could plow the parking lots. I was lucky, thanks to the wind the driver's side of my car had literally no snow. I could see the paint on the ground. The passenger side had drifts to the roof but it was not too bad to shovel. It took me about half an hour to shovel in front of the car and get it out of the way of the plows. Others in my neighborhood were not so lucky. Some cars were completely covered. We did have a lot of neighbors helping each other and that's really nice too see.
Just want to express how sorry I am for you all!! Living in Minnesota, you'd think I'd be used to that...and I was...except we haven't had any bulk of snow in at least three years. I can absolutely see some grass in my backyard...sigh. Guess I should count my blessings, but I miss the snow. Hope you are all safe and warm!
sorry - we got NOTHING...no rain...no snow...just wind...
Would love to have a few of those inches down here!!!
When we get snow here - my husband starts when it just over an inch and TRIES to stay on top of it so it doesn't take 4 hours...I know how hard that this!! Especially when it keeps coming down!!! He's from Boston - so he learned that growing up!
Send some our way!! PLEASE!!!! Stay in side. Don't drive if you don't have to!
Unfortunately for me, the blizzard isn't supposed to hit here until later tonight... So I guess this is what I get to look forward to... Arg.
We got two inches.
Sigh.
We still lost power (wind) but not for really long.
Sorry, I hope you are all safe and warm, but I sort of feel cheated. I was sort of looking forward to a good snow blow out....
Holy cow!!! Did you actually shovel your driveway? If it took 4 hrs to plow you must have a really long driveway!
We dug out in no time at all and our streets were completely cleared by 11:00.
This is why I don't live in the north anymore.
I like a little snow but it's exhausting living with it all the time.
Generally you want to shovel when ever the snow gets about 6-8 inches deep - when it's easy enough to handle.
If it's coming down fast, you go out every few hours and shovel again till late at night and start up again early in the morning.
You bundle up, dress in layers, keep a scarf over your face and have a good supply of hot chocolate on hand for when you come back inside.
It'll all melt off sooner or later - hopefully slowly so it doesn't cause flooding.
I heard about your blizzard and was hoping someone would post as to how the blizzard affected/impacted your area. We've had a lot of snow this year in southcentral Wisconsin but none of our snowstorms or blizzards brought anywhere near that much snow. But the overall accumulation--yes, we've had a doozy this year with lots and lots of snow. We haven't had that much snow all at one time, yet we have so much snow now that it's been difficult to get out and around. The roads are awful--slushy and then icy. And today it's RAINING on top of the snow we've been getting the last couple weeks. Oh joy.
I can't even imagine where the municipalities out East are going to PUT all that snow when they plow.
I remember years ago that we had a huge blizzard when I used to live by Alexandria, MN. In fact, the snow was up to the rooftops in the downtown area. They literally had to use heavy equipment and dump trucks and fill the dump trucks with snow and truck all the snow out to the fairgrounds and dump it. And they almost ran out of space at the fairgrounds to dump it all!
Quite a mess. So I feel for anyone living in the blizzard's path. But I'm glad to hear that, for the most part, everyone is safe.
We have about 28 - 30 inches or so but I'm absolutely doing the happy dance! Since we live in a hilly, wooded area it's not unusual for us to lose power and, since we have a well, we also lose water if the electricity goes out.
Don't know if it's because the snow was fairly light where we are or because it was more intense at the coast than here in the Worcester hills, but so far our lights have stayed on! Yippee!!!!
So very grateful to our plow guy! We've a pretty long, hilly driveway that curves in a few spots. In addition to multiple passes with the plow, he's made sure we're well salted/sanded and even shoveled manually what he couldn't get with his truck.
Seeing the difficulties others have had, I feel so very blessed. What's a couple of feet of snow when there are people willing to help, you've got power, a warm home & food? I'll take it!
We got a little over 2 feet...just found the parking lot..but no sidewalks yet...streets are pretty tight in my neighborhood but the main streets are OK...kids home since Friday and who knows about tomorrrow, Tuesday...
