My daughter was one of 6 flower girls and the bride had them all wear a little crown of flowers, with their hair half up/half down. They looked fabulous.

Hi Darlene, Your daughter must be a doll and well liked!
You could go to the library, or bookstore and find a couple of magazines for hair for children or bride mags and check it out. but don't you think the simple way is the natural way that your daughters hair is now.
Those "up-do's" are so out of style and dumb looking for kids. no make up or wierd stuff, just her beautiful face and a darling dress, anklets and shoes or sandals, and a flower in her hair...keep her a 8 year old, not a
18 or older kid!
Good luck, and happy wedding! Deb

personally i feel like natural beauty is the way to go with most special events. depending on the theme of the wedding i suppose, as long as it isnt one of those super fancy ones where everyone is primped and prim, then a natural look should be fine with almost any theme!

is her hair naturally straight, curly, or wavy?

try this before you have to style her hair for the wedding to see if it turns out good.
wash and condition her hair and brush it while you are conditioning it. rinse gently, then let it air dry naturally. then garnish with some small pretty real flowers you find in your yard!

its a classic beautiful natural look that goes well with any outfit and is very simple to do and fun for your daughter. it also wont hurt her head with painful hairpins or clips and does not require harmful chemicals!

any thing simple& cute not anything to grown up looking. If her hair short use some cute clips or barretts to pull her hair back from her face or curled to frame her face. Just something to dress her hair up from her normal style. If her hair is long pull it back from her face in a barret & then make like big ringlets(loose). Pony tails are always cute because it makes the hair look neat. Then put some pretty ribbons the colors the bride is using & you can always buy (small or tiny) silk flowers the wedding colors & put into her hair no matter what her hair style.

Hi Darlene,
I photograph a lot of weddings and see a lot of the top bang area parted and twisted then tied of with small bands. Then make the back full and curly. Braiding the night before is the easiest on both mom and little one.

I am sure she will be beautiful any way you decide to do it.

go to www.littlegirlhairstyles.com , there is an e-book you can download called curls for girls with a very simple method of giving your little girl curly locks and about 10 different hairstyles with how-to's. I just tried it with my 4 year old -- takes a little practice, so you'll want to get it ahead of time so you can play a little before the big day.

my daughter who is 4 is going to be a flower girl in August, and all we are doing is making her hair curly with the foam curlers that they sleep in and putting a flower clip in it. That is how my future sister in law is doing her hair, so we are just going to copy her. Maybe you can ask the bride how she is doing her hair and just try and copy it?

Aloha,
If she has long hair... the fariy princess style is cute... you know, when the hair is braided or french braided in a circle on top of the crown of their head like a 'halo'... and then flowers or sparkly pins or ribbons intertwined into the braids, can be REAL cute.

Or, a french braid, down along both sides of her head/temples, and intertwining ribbons into the braid, and then letting the ends of the ribbons flow freely down, OR, then making the ends of the braids into a bun at her nape using bobby-pins to secure the bun... and small flowers (fake or real) can be inserted into the braids, with the colors to match the wedding theme or her dress.

OR, braid her hair, let it set, the undo it, to get crimped and beautifully full flowing hair... then randomly attach tiny little flowers to her hair...perhaps using some kind of eyelash glue or something... which can be removed. Kind of like achieving a "60's Flower Child" look.

With any of the above styles, then spray it with hair spray to keep down stray hairs, or to keep the "crimped full" hair in place.

Good luck,
Susan
