I'm thinking of getting a Fitbit Charge 2 for an older family member. She's very technologically savvy and fairly active. I think she would like the info it provides.
My questions/concerns are about the feel and look of them. Does it feel as cheap and plastic as it looks? Can you buy prettier bands for them?
Also, it looks like you can sync them with your phone. Is that as simple as bluetooth? Or more complicated?
Does anyone have one? Love it? Hate it?
If you are speaking of the charge and not charge HR it is a pretty good fitness tracker. The charge HR was a nightmare. I know a couple people that didn't have issues beyond having to tape it back together. I went through four of them, bought from Costco so they kept exchanging them, before I switched to the blaze.
My older daughter still uses my old charge and hasn't had any issues.
I have a Charge HR and my daughter does as well. We love them.
It is synced with my iPhone and I keep track of steps, water intake, sleep. We have friends who have them and we are linked together and have competitions on steps, etc.
It's easy peasy to use, I charge mine while I'm on the shower. I got the purple one! You can get things to bling it up s but if you want but I'm not really into that.
i've got one and like it. it's not a beautiful watch, but i don't find it actually ugly either. yes, it syncs automatically with my phone and computer and it's mostly user-friendly. but my kids set mine up for me.
i did have to send it back because the plug-in mechanism at the back fell apart. they replaced it with no hassle, but i've heard of others having quality problems as well. if you get a warranty with it you should be fine.

I use the one that clips to my bra. No one sees it and it's quite comfortable. It syncs to my phone after I downloaded the app per the instructions. It really helps me make sure that I am exercising consistently. I was talking to a couple of people and they said that if you wear it on your wrist and do things like writing on a whiteboard, use tools (hammering), vacuum, etc., that it gives a false steps reading. No problem of that with the clip on model.
I have a regular Charge and love it - I've had it for about a year and it replaced a prior Fitbit, which was on its last legs after 2-3 years. The band on the Charge is much better than the older Fitbit bands (which fell apart fairly easily) and I believe you can get some nice compatible bands, though I've stuck with the original. I sync mine to my laptop, which is very easy. I imagine syncing to the phone should not be a great difficulty either, though I will say that my stepmother, who is in her 70s, always seems to have syncing problems (probably because she is not tech-saavy in the least). However, because of the readout on the Charge, I don't find syncing as critical as it was on my prior Fitbit. For me it was a fantastic gift because it really motivates me to meet my step goal daily.
