I was wondering if anyone knew of a great fishing spot. We are planning on taking our 3 year old out for her first fishing trip and don't want her to end up too bored and disappointed. We are in Far North Dallas but don't mind travelling to find fish that bite! Thanks for your help.

The pond at Frisco Commons Park has just been stocked with trout. You're guaranteed to catch a few there. There's also a pavilion and a wooden playground that would keep the little one occupied.

Hey T., Try Caruth Park (just south of the Caruth/Hillcrest intersection). My 5 year old catches bream, catfish and some decent sized carp almost everytime we go. The only exception to that was when we had his fishing birthday party there and no one caught a thing . . . go figure. It seems that they prefer bread to any other bait, although we've tried worms and lures. We usually fish off of the side closest to the parking lot half way between the fountain and the bridge that leads to the tennis courts. Good luck! We may see you there.

Oh yeah, there's a very nice park, tennis courts, soccer and baseball field there.

In Allen there's Bethany Lakes Park. I don't know how well it's stocked but I see people there fishing quite often. There's picnic tables and a playground. Fishing is always hit or miss.

This would be a day trip, but you could go to the Freshwater Fisheries in Athens, TX (about an hour and a half drive). There, you can see lots of interesting fish-related work going on as well as fish in their well-stocked pond. Google it to get better information. You could also swing by Lake Athens to fish for awhile, and then go to the marina for lunch or dinner.

Have fun, wherever you go!
