First Time Mom Looking for a Pediatrician in the Winter Park Area

I live in Winter Park too and actually go to Pediatric Associates on Mills Ave --which is actually in the downtown Orlando area. I had tried a ped by the WP hospital whom we were not comfortable with and had many recommendations for the PA offices. It is a large practice, but you have a primary Dr. and nurse that you see for all wellness visits. We have met quite a few of the Dr's there and like all of them--especially Dr. Yaeger, Dr. Didea, and Dr. Britton.
My son is 3 and we have been very happy with his care and their offices. One of my favorite things about the office is that they have a separate well an sick waiting area--they also have weekend hours and a great triage phone line that is available for any questions you may have...

I have gone to Interlachen and have seen Dr. Aguilar also. She is very nice. I swiched due to fact there practice is too big. We now see Dr. Ramey. He knows the kids ever oput of her office in public. Her web site is http://www.integrativepeds.net/

Their 2 offices are not too far away from each other so I have not found it a problem to schedule a well check with the Dr. I want. Most of the people I know go there!

They are located just off of Semoran Blvd, approximately 4 lights north of Aloma. They have some great doctors there. I have seen almost all of them. I also love their walkin hour that they have every morning that you can use for basic illnesses.

P.S. Guess I should have read first before I posted. Seems a bunch of people use them I will agree though that Dr. Middleton is very nice on the eyes. ;-)

I didn't like Interlachen at all!!! Too impersonal, and I don't feel that they do a thorough job. Since I work in the medical field, I feel that my expectations are high, but reasonable. And I wasn't willing to bend on the care of my children. Plus, I hated getting lost in the shuffle.

I take my kids to Dr. Thomas Lacy ###-###-####). Its a great little office and they have walk-in hours every day from 7:30-9. But they have also been very accomodating when I call and feel either of my kids need to be seen quickly. I have 2 kids and Dr. Lacy always remembers to take that into consideration when I'm there with one kid and makes sure that I know what I need to do to make sure the other one stays healthy -- I don't even have to remind/ask him. He also used to work for Interlachen but felt it was best to open his own practice (I talked to him about this during my interview and was very satisfied with his answer). I don't think he goes to the hospital (not many pediatricians do anymore), but the care I get from him and his office makes up for the lack of the hospital visit.

Dr. Elias also works in the same office, and Dr. Lacy has sometimes consulted her for another opinion and vice versa. There have been occasions that Dr. Lacy has not been available, so we have seen her and that was helpful.

Check out Interlachen Pediatrics. They have an office in Maitland and another one in Oviedo. They have a ton of doctors (I think around 9 or more) plus Nurse Practitioners. Some people don't like the idea of them having so many-- you can pick the same doctor for scheduled visits, but you are more limited to the dates you can pick based on when they are in the office (they take turns doing hospital rounds and days off) and when your child is sick and you bring him in you may have to see a different doctor if your usual one isn't in that day. BUT, I see having a big group as a plus. I have 3 kids and they are all very different. I'm glad that my daughter is able to see a female doc and my sons can see men. I'm grateful to have different points of view in the same office-- twice I have had chronic issues with my kids (my son's allergies and asthma, and my daughter's BM issues) and I was able to get more than one opinion and point of view on how to proceed with medications and treatment. I think as a first time parent, it's easy to just blindly believe and trust whatever your pediatrician says, but there are different views on how to handle things sometimes and I like having the variety of professionals all under one roof. (And Dr Middleton is gorgeous!!)
