Finding Larger Cup Bras

Hi mommas - had a "real" bra fitting the other day and found out that I'm a 32 DDD (or F in european sizes) - HOLY COW (no pun intented, although I did breastfeed LOL)! My big sis said she gets hers at Layne Bryant, but I couldn't find the size online. I'll check out the local store, but was wondering - where else can I get this size at a reasonable price (less than $50)?

I do recommend getting fitted after you've stopped breastfeeding - the "girls" look amazing in the right bra. I feel like my chest is 10 years younger when I put the bra on :)

Thanks for your help!

What can I do next?

A larger size bra for under $50? HA!!!! Good LUCK! On the bright side, you can find DDD sized bras at the Lane Bryant Stores. Expect to pay $30 -$50 per bra but sometimes you can catch them having a very good sale. When you do... stock up!

Best of Luck!

Try figleaves.com. They carry odd sizes. I was a 38 L when breasfeeding, and normally a 36 DDD. I have had good success with them- just read the user reviews.

Ha, you're funny...I used to be a 32 HH. Then had breast reduction. Then nursed successfully 3 kids. Now I am a 36 F, so the girls basically came back, and you are so right. The girls look so much nicer in the proper attire.

I used to go to Mervyn's and buy minimizer bras. They're gone and I shouldn't have been wearing minimizer anyway, it just pushed my boob into my armpit.

So now I wait for the big annual or bi annual bra sales at the nice department stores. I can always find a Bali, or Maidenform, or Le Mysterie, or the one Oprah wears, I can't remember the name, but the store will tell you. They run about $80 a bra, but during that big sale, I pay about $20...But you have to search and search and try on lots and lots. Then buy many to hold you through the year.

Once you get over a D -- bra sizes vary widely from maker to maker. Make sure you speak with someone that works in lingerie and can give you some help. When you find a bra that fits the way you like it -- use that as your base of comparison. For example a G by Brand A is cut like a J by Brand B. I wear a K or an L cup. The best place I've found for bras.. and the ONLY place I've found bras my size that don't end up costing me $75 or more is Lady Grace. I recommend them highly. The staff is great, they've helped me out more then once on the phone with an order.. and the quality of the bras I've gotten has been all that I expected.

Good luck :)

Yeah...the fact that your band size is a 32 is going to pretty much rule out Lane Bryant, the Avenue, etc. You MIGHT get lucky at a department store like Macy's but more likely you will have to order online.

If it is ok with you-I am going to be watching this one! I am a 36JJ by Pennyrich sizing. I am tired of them and really would love to find something comfortable, flattering and supportive without being 'grannyish' (though I am one recently lol)
and I have the issue of one side literally being a different cup size than the other.

oh and I would love some pretty colours too-us big gals don't always want to be stuck with beige and white!

You might look in your yellow pages for lingerie/foundation garments shops that do fittings, bridal and/or medical (for prosthesis). They will have a very wide variety of bras, because they do get customers who aren't served by the narrow selection at most department stores. I also happily discovered that the price for my bra at this sort of place was actually considerably less than a department store, and they had more helpful service. (I'd been using the sizes available at a dept. store before, and thought I was a 38 DD. It turns out that I'm a 34 G. With the limited selections, instead of offering larger cup sizes, they move you up in band-size to accomodate the more generously endowed.)

I did the same thing after nursing (even wrote a blogpost about it) and have LOVED the results. If you are looking onlone, check out Wacoal. Several of the women in my family love theirs (don't get the 'irregulars' on sale, though, my sis hasn't been as happy with those), and we are a family of mostly-busty women who need *lots* of support.

I don't think you are going to find anything that will work for you at Lane Bryant. You are not "plus-sized" as a 32F, and Lane Bryant starts at a band size or 36 or 38, I think for most of their bras.
I live in a small town with very limited options for bras that aren't a B, C or D cup. As a result, I have been buying all of mine online for years now. I have 2 websites that I use, and they are both really great in terms of being able to order several styles and return anything that doesn't fit. One site offers free shipping and the other is around $5 per order.
The sites are www.breakoutbras.com and www.figleaves.com, in case you are looking for a new option. My favorite brands are Freya and Fantasie, and Panache, but there are dozens of great ones. Both sites have sections specifically for DD+, with sizes up to J or K cups at least.
I totally agree with you that getting fitted is a great idea, but you do have to be careful of where you get fitted. The last time I was in a local lingerie store, one of their "fitters" (a high school student with a measuring tape) fit me as a 38 or 40 DD. I am actually a 36H. Most stores only carry bras up to 38 or 40 band size and DD is as far as they go in the cup, even if you are bigger than that, especially in the cup, they just squeeze you into what they have. I'm guessing that there are a lot of women out there who have had this experience and who are wearing bras that don't fit well and don't give proper support because that's what the stores have. When I put on a bra that actually fit for the first time, it was unbelievable how different I looked. The breakoutbras site has good instructions for measuring/sizing yourself, and I was able to do it myself at home and get an amazing fit.
I have a feeling that you will be surprised at how many great bra options there are out there for the well-endowed.
Good luck!

I did the same thing after I nursed...LOVE my new bras...I got mine at Loretta's intimates at PlanoPkwy and 75 by Collin Creek Mall on the West side of Ulta. They are expensive. I have also found their brands on line at
HerRoom.com and
BareEssentials.com
Sometimes they have some good sales and clearance items...I was sized at a 30DD so I understand. BUT I have decided that it is something that I wear EVERY DAY and so if I pay 50-60 bucks for it, so be it. It is worth it to me to have my boobs not look like a National Geographic layout! LOL

I'm a 32DD and I have checked, JC Penney's, Belk, Kohl's, VS (online sells my size) store, Wal-Mart, Target, Dillards, and nothing. I found mine online through VS but they dont sell a 32DDD. I would check Nordstrom and see what they have. With that size though you will be hard pressed to get something under $50.

I was fitted at Nordstrom's a while back with the same kind of results. I have bought bras there but they were pricy. I found www.figleaves.com and that is where I get all my bras now. They aren't cheap but less than any stores I have tries and they have a huge selection of styles and sizes. Good luck!

I get my bras at the Nordstroms in Hurst- NE Mall. Here's their info:
Nordstrom North East Mall (#722)
Holiday Store Hours
1101 Melbourne Road
Hurst, TX 76053

Hours, directions and events for this store.

They carry those sizes there. You may also want to check to see if there is one closer to you that carries them as well. Also, I have ordered bras on-line at www.biggerbras.com.

Good luck!

I'm going to read the rest of your answers and take notes, because I'm the same as you! The problem is you can't find a cup size with such a small band size, being 32. I'm also 32, but have not had success with DD or higher being less than 34, and even that's tough to find. I got fitted at Dillards after weaning my 2nd child, and they had a good selection there; I'll go back after I'm done nursing my 3rd which should be born any day now. I have had good success at Victoria Secret as well. You spend around $50, but they've lasted me forever. I usually will get a 34 band size and put it on the tightest hook and that seems to work; I like the Miracle Bra-not the push up or demi, but the full coverage cup. They have several styles to choose from, but it's lined so that you don't show too much when you're cold but it's not padded either so you're not falling out of the cups.

Much to everyone's amazement I am sure, you can find DDD at Wal-mart. However, I love Loretta's Intaments Intimates. Since with my 4 child the titty fair left me wearing a 38 H. 721 N.Central Expwy #420, Plano or www.lorettasintimates.com/

I like to get mine at figleaves.com. They often have sales that bring the price on F and more cup sizes down to a "reasonable" $40 or so. Also, sometimes Nordstrom will have them on their sale rack. I like that a lot because not all bras fit the same even if they are the same size.

Lane Bryant, as far as I know, does not carry band sizes less than a 36, just FYI. I'm a 34 so I can't get mine there.

Also, there's a British company called Bravissimo that has not only large cup size bras, but makes clothing specifically for curvy women. Not plus size, just curvy on top. They're pricey, but would be worth it for a few classic pieces if you have trouble with your clothes fitting properly (I know I do).

I too have had a reduction and finding a bra that truly fits is a headache. 20+ years later my mom will still tell the story of how I was hard to shop with when looking for a bra. We spent the whole day not finding one I liked and back then I was a 36D, not hard to find. I was a DDD before getting my reduction and went to a C. Two kids later and I'm back to a DD. I'm afraid to think of what they would have been without the reduction! Ha ha. There are some great suggestions to sights on here. Since my reduction 9 years ago I wear Vanity Fair. I like that they don't have a seam in the middle of the bra. That has always been a pet peave of mine. Definately look for the sales. A good bra that fits right isn't going to be cheap. Good luck.

I would check out JCPenney, Nordstroms, and Kohls. I doubt Lane Bryant would have a 32. I would check the stores out online before making a trip.
