My son takes medicine that causes him to be hungry. What are some healthy foods/snacks that are filling? he will beg me for food every 30 mins. He can go through a bag of apples every 2 days, as well as a box of cereal ect....he doesnt get junk food but im lost as what will fill his belly up longer then 10 mins! the only this his dr said was to put fiber in some milk but even that doesnt cut it some days!

What can I do next?

foods with a lot of fiber...Whole grain pasta. Cheese, whole grain bread. Various nuts if he isn't allergic. Apple slices and bananas are pretty filling.

If he likes cereal look for some like fiber one that have 12 grams of fiber per serving...Very filling.

String cheese, yogurt, handful of trail mix, glass of carnation milk, banana, hard boiled egg, salted avocado, handful of brocolli, peanut butter on celery, peanut butter on apple slices, slimfast shake, fruit smoothie, glass of ice water, beef jerky, sunflower seeds. I know this is tough b/c it's a medicine causing it, but I would also try and revert him to an activity to maybe try and distract him from his hunger. He's not starving, so he'll be okay.

Does he like peanut butter toast or waffles? Trail mix or granola bars. My kids love the gogurt sticks frozen. Cheese & crackers?

My daughter is hungry all the time too but she is not on meds....I am always looking for things to give her as well. She also like meat & cheese wraps.

beans like black beans or nonfat refried beans with a bit of flavor/cheese on top are one of my son's fav foods to eat.

I have found carrots to be filling. My son (diabetic) also likes zucchini, although, he likes to dip it in mustard. But there is no sugar in mustard, so that may be a help. I would avoid sugar, cheese and carbs, they seem to make it worse. My son also likes peanuts, sunflower seeds and some other nuts. They are high in protein and help fill him up.

PB7J's. Always big hit here. I've put it on wraps instead of bread. I make a big thing on trail mix that I don't mind my kids snacking on through out the day. Just like cereal, raisins, pretzels. You put anything he likes in it. They always have fruit (but you said he goes through that quick). I make pancakes (double batches) and freeeze them. You can put all kinds of toppings on them to make them different.

Make sure he's getting plenty of water too; maybe before you give him a snack, give him a glass of water first.

Protein and whole grains/fibre like others have said. Popcorn is a good one - but air-popped.

Snacks that are high in protein and/or good fats are the best options. Carbs are turned into sugar by the body (as are fruits), so your body craves them more, making you feel more hungry. Also, raw veggies with dip (guacomole, etc) have lots of fiber and fill the stomach better.

Momma L hit it on the head!
You want high protein, and high healthy fats (avocado, peanut butter...). She gave tons of great examples.

Protein-packed snacks are better. Peanut butter, cheese, and also whole grains.
