Fetal Heart Rate at 10 Weeks

I went into my OB today for some cramping and such, and she decided to do a quick ultrasound to make sure that all was well. I have had several ultrasounds already due to the fact that I recently miscarried and have had to do fertility treatments to become pregnant. I am a little worried about the baby's heartbeat. It normally ranges between about 160's-170's, but today it was only in the low 130's. I raised the concern with my OB, considering the fact that I was in there for cramping and pain in the first place, and she says she's not worried about it......says she would be if it was below 100. I ordered a fetal doppler so that I could monitor the hb at home, because after losing out first I just need the peace of mind. It just does not make sense to me. Should I not be a little concerned that the fetal heart rate is dropping already and I am only in my 10th week?

What can I do next?

Please don't worry so much if you can help it. It's natural to do so, but you are so early in your pregnancy and you will just make yourself crazy and stress to your baby.
Early in my second pregnancy, the doctors were concerned that I had lost my baby because of heavy bleeding and not being able to find a heartbeat. I was devastated.
That was 15 years ago and I have the most beautiful, healthy son you could imagine.
Every little thing scared me, but I just had a trust that he was a fighter and he was.
Heartbeats fluctuate. Movements fluctuate. Try not to over worry yourself.
I will keep you in my thoughts and wish you the very, very best!

I really worried every time I went to the doctor because my little guy's heartrate was always different. Sometimes really different, sometimes only a small change up or down. You're doctor said the same as mine, early in pregnancy over 100 is fine, and then it will drop later as well.
Try to take it easy, as hard as that is after suffering a loss, remember that you bought your dopplar to help ease your mind, and if it only makes you worry more, put it up on the shelf, and trust your doctor, after seeing 3 different docs for 2 miscarriages and then my last pregnancy, I learned to stay away from the internet and just trust the actual medical professionals that were taking care of me.

My babies' heart rates fluctuated between 120-180 at various appointments. I gave birth to 3 healthy baby girls. Try not to worry.....stress isn't good for you or baby :)

120-160 is normal. In fact, it is a little slower at the begining of a pregnancy from what I heard. Don't worry to much, stay away from your doppler and only think positive, healthy thoughts. Best wishes!

I found this and saved it for reference when I was pregnant regarding fetal HR early in pregnancy. I hope this helps. It sounds like you are within range. If it was lower than 100...that would be discerning. Try to relax and enjoy being pregnant! I know that's easier said than done. :) You might be having a boy.

• Week 5 starts at 80 and ends at 103 bpm
• Week 6 starts at 103 and ends at 126 bpm
• Week 7 starts at 126 and ends at 149 bpm
• Week 8 starts at 149 and ends at 172 bpm
At week 9 the fetal heartbeat tends to beat within a range of 155 to 195 bpm.
The fetal heart rate will begin to decrease and generally will fall within the range of 120 to 160 bpm by week 12
