I use garnier fructise anti frizz serum and mousse.
If I try just one or the other, my hair is super frizzy before it dries. But both together seems to work well.
What's your favorite? I've finally given up the ghost this summer and embraced my curls. The smooth look is impossible to achieve due to all this humidity - by the end of the day, I look like I have frizzy Gene Wilder Willie Wonka hair. So this summer, I just gel my hair up and scrunch it a little with a dryer and go. However, I wish I had something to make the curls look a little less crunchy. Is it my technique? Is it my gel?
How do you achieve frizz-less summertime curls without the crunch?
TIA

I never use gel, I use mousse. I use Garnier Fructice's curl mousse and it works great, I just put it on when I get out of the shower, put it in, and let it air dry.
I understand what you are going thru. If I don't put anything in my hair, I have dread locks. My favorite is by AG called recoil curl activator. You can buy it at Ulta. I hate the wet look or crunchy hair and this is the only thing that doesn't do that to my hair. The nice thing about Ulta is that you can try it and if you don't like it, just return it for a full refund.
My husband has curls and for years he tried different gels and mouses. Finally, his hair stylist recommended he just use a little conditioner, and that by far works best for him.
Gel, makes curls LOOK nice, but the crunch is just part of using a gel.
Try using a styling crème for curls, or (if you still have lost of gel and don't want to trash it), mix a little gel in with a leave in conditioner in your palm, then rake the mixture through your wet hair with fingers.
There are also leave in conditioners specifically for curls which already have an anti-frizz and control (what you're getting from gel) element to them. Mixed Chicks is my go to maker, but Kinky Curly, and a couple of other brands are also very good and can be purchased at Target (they have a section devoted to specialty curly products, so you won't find it next to the Pantene stuff... it's pricey but ounce for ounce (and satisfaction per use) I find it's a better deal than trying to make something work with the cheaper stuff.

Plenty of serum and L'oreal curl activating mouse. I brush it through damp hair, scrunch curls, let dry. Then I scrunch again gently before leaving the house to uncrunch and separate the clumps.
One and Only Moroccan Argan Oil Curling Creme - sold at Sally Beauty Supply - I have fine hair and it didn't make my hair oily or crunchy but did combat frizz and defined curls nice and soft - good luck - hope you like it!!
I like Pantene. I usually use anti-frizz cream and gel.
This is the one my DD use's. I've used it also and it works amazingly well. It takes a little trial and error at first to find the right amount, but it gives nice curls without that sticky look so many gels and other mouses can give.
