My family and I recently went to Yosemite and discovered that we love to hike in scenic areas. Does anyone know of a family friendly area to hike that is beautiful and scenic? We're looking for easy to moderate hikes. I'm willing to drive up to 2 hrs away from Sac if it's worth it.

Thanks.

Check out the Sacramento Walking Sticks

They do lots of hikes and walks around and about the greater Sac area, with occassional forays into other areas of Northern California. We haven't made a walk yet, but a friend did a walk around Folsom Lake with her family and said it was fun and gorgeous!

We just went on a fun 2.5 mile hike at New Melones Lake that my 3 and 5 year old loved. Pretty lake views and nice drive there.

If you do a Google search for family-friendly hikes in Auburn, you should find a ton of options. The Auburn area is full of trails.

If you want an easy, relatively flat option, the Miner's Ravine trail in Roseville is a good choice. It's paved and runs through some pretty areas (hard to believe it's in a city). It's also dog-friendly.

Going a little further out, we just hiked to the top of the hill on Angel Island and that's a really pretty hike. You'll get some amazing views of the bay and San Francisco. A lot of butterflies flying around, too. There are two trails leading to the top. One is more moderate (which has the great views) and the other is a lot more family-friendly. Just ask the rangers.

Hidden Falls outside of Auburn. Definitely worth the drive!
