I just had my last baby and am considering a procedure that my OB suggested...called Esure, where a device is inserted into the fallopian tubes which causes scarring and blocks tubes. Haven't been able to find anyone who has actually had this procedure done. Anyone had this procedure and have any feedback? Thanks!

What can I do next?

I haven't had this done but don't want to scare you. I do feel you need to know this. I had my tubes cut and tied after my last child. Within four years I developed an infection in my tubes and had to have a Hysterectomy. I was talking to my doctor just a couple months ago that did the surgery. He told me that any time a woman blocks her tubes she raises the risk of a tubal pregnancy and that it is also a very high infection risk. He said if I had asked him to do my tubes he would have turned me down. There are so many other choices. Have hubby take care of the birth control. It's so much easier for men and a lot less risk to it. I know three women that have just had hysterectomy's in the last couple of months. All three had problems after having their tubes blocked. It's so not worth the risk when a man has it so much easier...

I HAD THIS DONE! I had it done 8/08... So far I LOVE IT!!! The procedure doesnt hurt, and its more accurate than having your tubes tied because 3 months after the procedure they shoot dye in to your tubes while doing a sonogram like xray and YOU and your doctor can SEE that NOTHING is getting past the device.. I havent had any problems at all.. If you have any specific questions PLEASE feel free to message me. God Bless! =)

i had my tubes tied, cut, and burned after my 2nd child. i have had no problems with it. the recovery was super easy, and the pain was minimal. the only thing that i could complain about is that my periods are irregular. they still come once a month.. but the dates are very inconsistant. i am acutally going to see my gyn today. i plan on asking her if this is normal with a tubal. good luck!

hi there, this is not a procedure that I am familiar with, but I could suggest another alternative which I have had for 7 years now and have found it to be brilliant. It is called 'Mirena', this is available in New Zealand and Australia (not sure if available where you are?) It is a trademark of the Bayer Group, Germany (you may want to try and google it on the internet) As I said I have had it for 7 years now, and have had no side effects and no unexpected surprises, but everyone is different so you might want to do some research.
I have recommended it to my friends also after they had had all there children, they too recommend it (most of us did find intially there was a bit of spotting and ill feeling but this subsided after a month or so. I would highly recommend you research this first before making any final decisions. Cheers & Good Luck.

My best friend had it done this year and she researched it for about a year before deciding it was what she wanted. She had it done and went back a bit later to check and make sure everything was okay, then she has another appointment scheduled to check and see if it is fully blocked or something like that.

She went out to eat with her husband right after and she was back at work the next day.

She seems very happy and it was what she really wanted to do.
