Anyone using or know anyone who is using ESSURE? Looking at pros/cons? You like it? Have any problems? I have 6 kids at home and I think (ha ha...I KNOW) we are done! Just had #6 six months ago. :-) Any Advice would be helpful! Thank You!

My husband and I decided a couple years ago that we were finished having kids. I went with the Mirena first and it was horrible. I talked to my doctor and we decided that Essure was the best bet. It was the least invasive procedure (between my husband and myself) so we did the procedure about a year and a half ago and I haven't had any problems with it at all. It was quickly done. Recovery was next to nothing and I haven't had anything with it since. I hope that helps and good luck to you!

I asked this question almost 2 years ago and at the time thought that I would do it but I searched for forums online to see what people who had decided to try Essure were experiencing. My conclusion was that it's still too new of a procedure. On this website (Mamapedia) if you type "Essure" into the search box you can see several previous posts about it. I just say read as much as possible before you decide. I decided that it wasn't for me but many people have had success with it. I wish you the best with whatever you choose!

I know there are negative issues with every type of birth control, but I had read into it and got scared off by some of the horror stories. I'm not sure of the incidence of the negative experiences (though I'd bet it's very low) but ask your doctor if you're concerned - I've heard of painful scar tissue, coils perforating the uterus, hysterectomies needed as a result of improperly placed coils, etc.

My best friends sister had it done in January. She said that it was a fast procedure and felt fine after it. Recovery time was even faster. She doesnt regret having it done. If you like I can give you her email if you have more questions about it. :)

I have it and have been happy with it.

I will say though that being off a hormonal birth control does change your periods, especially if you got on it because they were heavy and painful.
That all came back for me and I just also had an endometrial ablation to take care of the heavy bleeding.
Feel free to ask me any questions you have!

Thanks!
