I have the D5000 and I love it. I love being able to take rapid pictures since I'm not very good at capturing a moment, so the rapid fire lets me catch the moment. We go the 18-55 mm lens and the telescopic lens that 55-200. After getting it, we ran into someone that had an 18-200 lens and I wish we got the all in one lens. I'm still learning, but I didn't read the manual. My husband and I have taken some wonderful pictures, some do look professional, and I haven't gone back to a photo studio since, and I don't plan on it. We got the 5000 as opposed to the 3000 because the 5000 takes video and I think has more megapixels than the 3000. We also got it at Best Buy on our credit card for no interest for 18 months. We go it around memorial day and got a sale which included the camera, both lens and a bag. We also got the large memory card. For all of this we paid around $850. As for the memory card, we have gotten upto 1500 pictures on the card and were still not given any warning that we were out of memory. Also, the battery life is awesome. We took it to Austria took pictures every day and still didn't need to charge the battery.
