My daughters are 26 months apart, and like you, I realized I needed a double stroller. I didn't have a lot of money to spend on one, so I ended up buying the Jeep Wrangler All-Weather Twin Sport Umbrella Stroller. It's $79, and the only problem I've had with it is when it folds up, the umbrella part likes to pop off. Otherwise, it's great. Both seats recline separately, and it's light and easy to navigate. The only downside is that there's not really anywhere to store anything. There are two side pockets, but they don't hold much. Other than that, I've been very satisfied with it (I got mine from Wal-Mart).

Love my Phil and Teds! It is not as cumbersome as the other double strollers. Great for walks on sidewalks and in malls. Worth the investment.

I've never used one myself, but most people I know who have 2 kids have a Bob stroller. It's as narrow and light as a single stroller, has a swivel front wheel for easy maneuvering, and tires thick enough to be a running stroller. You can take one of the seats out to make it a single stroller if you want, and I think there's other attachments--kind of like a Bugaboo--that go with it.

I have the one step ahead sit and stand stroller. You can get it so that it has 2 seats or the sit and stand feature. I really like it! My kids are 3 and 3 months. The infant carrier fits into the front seat

If you dont want to spend big bucks I have the Graco duoglider LXI. I only paid $160 for it at albeebaby.com. I love it. Its easy to push and comfy for the kids. Hope that helps!

I love the Phil and Ted's. Lightweight, easy to use/convert, durable, functional, nice gliding ride, etc. I didn't want a double wide stroller - can't fit through doors easily, let alone store aisles. I also didn't want a tandem front to back model because those are equally hard to maneuver. I highly recommend the Phil & Ted's. When my 2nd child (born when my first was about to turn 2) was an infant, his entire car seat fit in the rear of the stroller so I didn't have to wake him up - Graco snug ride fit right in. Then he was able to lie back there when he was a bit older. They also sell a bar so most car seat carriers can fit on the front if you're running errands or walking with just the new baby. The conversion from one person to 2 person is very simple. My kids (now 3.5 and 18 months) love the stroller. There are no accessories for cup holders or anything so we bought some clips at Babies R Us to hang bags from for shopping. We also bought the saddle bags to hang on the sides so we could store snacks, drinks, and small purchases - great investment. This stroller is adaptable for one kid or two. I love this stroller and have received great comments on it wherever I go. It's unique and it solves the problem of awkward maneuvering in stores and through doors. Not to mention, it's good looking. Highly recommend it.

I have heard great things about the McClaren Twin Techno. I have heard mixed reviews on the Phil and Ted's. Slot of my friends got the Phil and Ted's and returned it for the Bugaboo with the stansing attachment. It depends on your older child, if he/she will stand behind the stroller, do the Bugaboo. I also heard the Peg Perego Duvette is wonderful. The only downside is that it is heavy! Good luck!

You need a BOB double jogger. They are so easy to maneuver. Even if you aren't a jogger this one is so easy to steer you can do it with one hand wjhile sipping your latte. They are expensive so if you can get it as a gift even better.

My best friend has The Phil and Teds double stroller and loves it. Her boys are 26 months apart. The only two things she didn't like were 1. the price and 2. in order to use her Graco infant carseat with it she has to shove it in place. It worked but I doubt the manufacturer would recommend it.
I have a graco double stroller. It does the job. It's a little big and heavy. My oldest is now 29 months and doesn't want to sit in the stroller any more so I'm glad I didn't spend a lot of money.
I hope this helps. Best of luck.

Phil and Ted's are awesome. It starts out with this little papoose section in the back where you can keep the infant (you get this little portable handled papoose that slips into a hammock like section of the back) and its great for a sleeping baby. The older kid sits in the front in the more traditional stroller seat. Then when the baby gets old enough to sit up, there is this removeable seat that you put on the back (the hammock portion of the back just gets clipped it to the regular seat back) and the older kid sits in the back and the younger sits in the front. my kids are now 2 and 5 so I don't use it as much anymopre (though still could-its very roomy), but I sing its praises where ever I go. Its also front/back and very compact rather than side by side and has great wheels for terrain so its a lot easier to maneuaver in tought places, especially through doors, in stores, on trains, etc. HEre's a link:

My older daughter was 26 months old when I had our second baby. I quickly realized I'd need a double stroller and considered the sit 'n stand, but once I saw how long and cumbersome they were I was totally against getting one. Everyone I know has either the traditional side by side doubles, or back to back ones and I just didn't want to lug all that around!! So I bought PHIL AND TEDS AND HAVE BEEN SO HAPPY AND SO GLAD I DID!!! I seriously asked myself why I didn't buy it sooner!! The best thing about it, is that it's a regular stroller, so no added weight or bulk, with the little tandem seat that clips either to the front or underneath where the basket is. Reading all the reviews on their website some didn't like that there's no shade/protection in the rear seat and no view. But I don't find that either is a problem. The smaller/younger child rides there and they don't seem to mind not having a view out the front, but look to the side. As for shade, I found some was provided by the front seat and I just kept a sun hat on her. I LOVE PHIL AND TED's and STRONGLY RECOMMEND Getting one. I have had the freedom and ability to go so many place and even go for long walks/exercise that I never thought I would be able to do!!!!

Our kids are 15 months apart and love taking "buggy rides" in our neighborhood and to the nearby playground. We decided on the Graco DuoGlider LX Stroller. It's about $110 from Babies-R-Us and Target. We love it and have had no problems with it.
