My daughter and son are about the same age differance. When I was expecting last summer, my friend gave me her old double stoller. I am SO glad that I did not spend hundreds of dollars. Although it came in VERY handy for the fair, and a few shopping trips, I acutually only used it about 5 times. It was super bulky, hard to navigate through small areas, and with the carrier in it, the front seat could not recline, so my daughter couldnt nap in it. Also, with the carrier in it, we could not use the bottom basket to hold things. We also could not hear our daughter all the way up front. What I ended up doing was carrying my son in a front carrier or sling, and pushing my daughter in a regular single stroller. Now that my daughter is 2 1/2 and my son is 7 months, and able to sit in the stroller, and too big for the carrier, the stroller is kinda nice for walks. But it is still too big and bulky for the mall, and I dont like that I cant hear my daughter up front. I would prefer now to have a sit/stand type stroller. Now, if my husband is with me, we take our regular stroller for our son, and an umbrella stroller for our daughter. She is really great about staying close, so we dont buckle her in, and she loves the freedom of being able to get up and not being so confined. Thats why I think she would love the sit/stand stroller. Plus those are much more compact and the kids are closer to you. If you can pick up a double stroller for cheap, or free, it's great for the few times you can really use it. But I would save your money, and use a sling or carrier, then decide in a few months what really works for your family. You might be suprised with what you come up with.
