Today, all of a sudden, my dog started sneezing blood.
Maybe something got up her nose?
I can't imagine what. She hasn't been outside much today & we don't have weeds so I wouldn't think
it's a foxtail or something.
Which worries me more!
Thanks for any help you can give. I'm very nervous.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone. Took my dog to the vet that night, had blood tests done. Had to put her down the next day. It was a nasal tumor. So sad. Still miss her terribly but at least she's not suffering any more. (sigh.......heavy heart).

Oh wow that's one of those things you need to see an emergency vet for ASAP. I hope she's ok. Let us know.

CALL YOUR VET!

Foreign body, like a foxtail or something else? Nasal tumor? Any chance she got into any kind of rodent poison? It interferes with the body's clotting mechanisms, leading to various kinds of bleeding. Maybe she just sneezed hard enough to cause some small blood vessels to rupture and that's where the blood is coming from?

See a vet. Either she scratched the inside of her nose or she has a growth that is being irritated.

Vet.
The very first thing that comes to mind (to me) is of course something that I am aware of because I read about it when my dog was diagnosed with it. That does NOT mean it is what is going on with your dog. But one of the symptoms of ehrlichiosis is bleeding. It is a tick borne illness. My dog had it, but did not have the bleeding. She was in a subclinical stage.

If it IS erlichiosis there is treatment (simple antibiotics) but whether a dog with it would be okay depends upon how severe the symptoms and how long it has gone on untreated, etc. My dog only behaved in a depressed manner, and appeared arthritic with some odd lameness in a front leg a few days. She took antibiotics for a couple of weeks and is fine, now.

Please talk to your vet.
Best wishes.

Get the dog to a vet as soon as you can unless the condition clears up rapidly.

This happened to my dog once--and it scared us as well since it literally looked a crime scene in the house when we came home. Luckily for our dog, it turned out just to be a ruptured blood vessel in her sinus that caused the bleeding. Regardless, you ought to take the pooch to the vet as only a veterinarian can correctly diagnose what sort of injury or issue caused the bleeding.

Just get her to the vet.
My sister's little dog began sneezing and blood was coming out. In her case, she had a fox tail very high up into her sinuses. The vet was able to get it out and she was fine after that.

Also, the weather is changing and it's possible that her nasal passages have become dry and the slightest sneeze could break some of the tiny capillaries in her nose.

Don't hesitate. Just get her in for a check up. It could just be something very easily treated.

Best wishes.

Call the vet, get in TONIGHT and see what happens.

When it happened to my dog it was lung cancer, and I worked in the industry.

Ow! I wonder if she hit her nose and you didn't know it, and she had dried blood in there that got "liquified" with snot, and then she sneezed it out.

I'd wait and see if she sneezes it out again. Or call the vet's office and ask for advice.

Good luck,
Dawn
